Some pictures from our WE cabin trip:

My younger daughter with my 18-year-old grandson and my 10-year-old granddaughter.

The view behind the old outhouse is obscured by the weather.
Looks like a great time.
Somebody likes Bambi lol.

She loves to eat Bambi 🤣
That's hilarious!
Funny how that works, many times they don't even make the connection.
I remember when my boy was a wee bit shorter, I said something about a turkey being a bird, he said they didn't fly therefor they weren't a bird lol. I told him to run outside after them as fast as he could, he was amazed when they flew .

Winters have been mild here the last few years in South Eastern Pennsylvania but happy to have taken my daughters out sledding today. Four inches or so of light, fluffy snow.

Loving every minute of this while my girls are still young.

That's awesome.
My oldest daughter got hit by a guy and his kid sledding, first time I let her and my second oldest daughters go down the hill by themselves. She wouldn't stop crying, so we went home. After a while I told her, you need to get up and walk on it, or we're going to the hospital. Well, we went to the hospital, broken leg. Pretty sure I got the bad dad of the yr award that yr. In my defense, she cried about everything, how was I supposed to know lol.
At least we were building memories 😬.
Our guys had the quad out this week, pulling the sleds or someone on a snowboard, no "big" memories built...

Got down to -20° here. Warmed all the way up to -19° so far.
Quite the warmup.
-11 at home and -23 at our cabin up north. It should be mid twenties by the end of the the week. That's gonna feel warm!
Gonna be breaking out the shorts and hoodies .
I had the upper portion of the barn up to 62 degrees, I was down to a t-shirt working on the bay door. It's probably 20 degrees out there now, 1 degree outside.

What do you guys have in your shops(or where you work) for heaters
Using a 30-70 BTU propane construction type heater, I managed to burn thru about half a 100lb tank over 2/3 days. I did have it on low overnight, but I plan on running something all the time to keep it at 50 during the winter months. I'm considering a radiant tube setup, I already have a furnace I could set up in there too. I wouldn't mind having a wood stove if a deal pops up to help lower the costs of propane. Propane is like $4 something a gallon here just filling the 100lb tank, I think it's just over $2(maybe 2.30) to fill a larger tank, which I could get/do, and probably will.

-1* here right now, my woodshop has a woodstove in it, but I never go out there when it's real cold...

Are you saying you want me to come remove it for you lol.
I need to head up NW of you in the next few weeks(while the ground is frozen), need to drop another good sized white pine. If there are any good logs I may be able to drop them off, depends how it all works out with my tractor/trailer for loading, as I'm only wanting to make one trip up and back with them over the two days. I'm sure you're chomping a the bit to get outside and do some milling right now .

I have a 60k btu unit heater in my shop at home. It heats the 15×30×12 area just fine. I picked a unit heater because of the fast recovery time when bringing a cold car in.

Never liked the non vented heaters . They throw a lot of moisture into shop causing condensation. My plan is radiant floor heating in my new shop most likely propane fired . At my mom’s house we installed a hanging hot water heater with a blower on its own circulator . Works rather well .

No, but when I get a new one for the basement, you can come remove that old one for me! lol

I'm headed SE of here on Friday, to get a load of logs to turn into beams for a guy.

You know I love white pine! lol

$2.50 gal for propane last I got tanks filled up at my uncles shop. I'm planning on getting one of those cheap wabasto heaters to maintain above freezing in the shop for now. My buddy heater does ok, but the biggest tank I have is 30lb (6 ish gallons) which doesn't last very long, even with the buddy heater running one element. Burn the wood stove after I get home and give the buddy heater a break till morning. So far coldest it's been is 42* when I get home from work. Definatly need to invest in something a bit better for out there, or get a bigger propane tank.

$1.89 here. I keep the shop at 50 and warm it up when needed. The most propane I've ever used was 400ish gallons. It's usually around 300 gallons a year.

That makes sense since you're pulling cars in and out on a normal basis. I would think most times I was going to pull something in it would be one of three scenarios. One it would go on the lift, and would be a bit higher where it would get warmed a bit quicker with radiant heat and the air up there should be a bit warmer. Two it was getting pulled in to work on it real quick, and we were just needing it out of the weather. Three would be it's coming in, but can wait a bit so it will be warmed up by the time we get to it.
For the tractors they would just go out to work outside a bit, then come back in for quite a while, so not a big deal.

Would have been nice to have natural gas here. Every street that is connected to ours, and the end of it has it, and our tree isn't but maybe 1.5 miles long . That being said, I wouldn't know any of you fine fellers if we had natural gas:cheers: and we wouldn't even be having this conversation lol.
Your propane is cheap compared to here, that would certainly be a factor to consider, maybe Trumps policies will get it down a bit ;).

Yeah, it's only for temporary. I have an actual furnace that I'll probably install, already bought it for $100 bucks last summer, it's a high-efficiency power vent style. But I'm not sure it's the best route or one source would be a good idea. The good thing is we have a great power company that's local (literally 1.25 miles NNW from here as the crow flies), and we don't often have outages, so I shouldn't need a wood stove. I've considered an electric water heater set-up for the 12x24 saw shop area, be nice not to have any penetrations thru the walls or the ceiling. I have the wainscoting on the barn, so if I was to install a small mini-split in that area I could go thru down low. It would be sweet to have AC in there. I'd also want at least one good sized electric baseboard heater to use if it was too cold for the mini to work.

Oh snap, can we use the skidding winch .
At least the sap will be frozen, so my saws won't get dirty with sap.

One of those would work for my 12x24 shop, but I don't want to support the CCP and I don't want to make the holes in the walls ceiling if I don't have to. The semi I drive has one for the bunk heater, I run it whenever it's cold out, then I only need a little added heat from the trucks heater. It's nice not to have the fan blowing air in you eyes and drying them out, or hot air on the windshield to heat it up and make the snow stick to it, even though I do have heated wipers(hate to use wipers unless I have to). One nice things about those little heaters, is you can get them with a controller. It would be nice to just click the temp up from the house(if it reached), or from the car when you pull in from work.
42 isn't terrible, I'm shooting for 50, then being able to warm it up a bit more if I'm out there.
The propane companies here all give me, and others I've talked to, a hard time about filling the 24 gallon/ 100lb tanks. I'm almost as big of a fan of propane companies as I am rust or Chyna.

Never been that low here

Ouch.
Is electric pretty expensive there, ours isn't bad compared to the bigger companies in MI. That being said, I hate paying for it.
