Damage from past few years still being seen on CT trees.

While not thought of by many people, the damage we have seen from the 2 hurricanes, early snows, periods of drought,etc over the past few years, does place huge stress on our trees,shrubs, turf.

The effects are especially strong in areas near the shoreline due to the salt water flooding and salt spray onto foliage.

Lower Hudson valley & SW CT is seeing scattered brown patches (tent caterpillars) on predominantly oaks, but also mulberries and crab-apples. Haven't seen anything really devastating yet, just maybe enough to keep birds interested. At least, one can hope.

Around West Point this became noticeable just as the cicadas finished doing their thing.
