Really awesome job on both the saws.. I read where you mentioned the blue paint, but didn't see if you mentioned what type red paint you used on the 1050. Did you get a match from a paint shop, or is it Chrysler red or ??? Again, killer job on both!

Dan

Thanks! The red is MF Red (Massey-Fergusen) Restoration Paint from Tractor Supply. I found it to be really close to the original red based on comparison to NOS parts I bought for my other 1050. See photo - the flywheel cover is original NOS. The starter cover and the rest of the saw is the MF red.

Very interesting in that I use the exact same paint for some of my Stihl Contra restoration efforts. It is a near perfect match there as well and quite durable after being baked.

Oh yea, the "deeper" red. I sit here looking at a C-91 I did a while back using the MF red from Tractor Supply and I guess the lighting makes it look a little darker. Yours really looks bright. Again, great job!

Sounds as good as it looks.:clap:

Thanks Carl. That's the one I had at the GTG. Not quite as fast as HomeliteDelight's 750s but it had the 36" and 7 tooth rim. This one has a 20" bar and 8 tooth. I'm really interested to see how that SDC fixed H jet carb works. Looks like up to now it was plenty rich.

Oh yeah, finally got the XL12 done too! Part way in to these, I found one was the older style with the fixed filter in the fuel tank - that's the one I used.
I had to use a newer style cylinder that has an extra hole for the three bolt muffler. I like those big squishy bicycle grips too. I install them with golf club grip tape to make sure they stay in place. Not as good as AV springs but that foam takes some of the rattle out. I will try to get videos of these running soon.

Nice job! One of my all time favorite saws, that homelite looks good.

You have to share a picture with us with all your restores lined up like they do the girls in the Miss America contest.

Good idea, it's been like Folsom Prison for them lately ("and I ain't seen the sunshine since - I don't know when"). Gotta do it when my wife's away, she doesn't know there are 19 now.

Maybe line em up and get them all going at once - a chainsaw choir!
