I ordered some parts for a saw from my dealer today..
went online,got part numbers,checked prices.
went to the shop, checked prices... $30 from him,$28 online delivered...
he ordered the parts for me with no shipping charge as they went in with his regular order..he knows i order stuff online and told me for carb kits to get them online.... he is honest about it all and gives me breaks so i support him when i can..
so,sometimes local dealer,sometimes online,whatever fits best..

My preference is to shop in person, but it requires me to take time out of my workday to get to the saw shop - long lunch, leave early, or get there before going to the office. This is not convenient, so I end up buying a fair amount of stuff online, from my desk, while doing other work. If the shop was closer, this would be less of a problem. If the shop allowed me to order online (shipped to me or for pick-up at the store), I'd be willing to stay local.

Damn and I thought $900.00 was good for only the 390xp powerhead!.

I have one good dealer near home, they match prices, always know exactly what part it is you need. For the big saws like the MS460, they carry almost ever part on the shelf. All the others are pay list or leave. I mentioned the dealer cost once at one of the local places, he said yes thats correct, and I'm not budging off the $175.00 profit, he said its not worth his time for anything less. I walked out, he profited nothing. I found the good dealer by accident, he made a sale.

Customers like this is what we call #####es at the shop. We hate people that come with that attitude that they know your cost and what are ya gonna do about it swagger.... ##### we aren't going to do anything about it. You buy what the price tag says, or walk your ##### ass out of the shop w/o any smart alec remarks. That is unnecessary and customers do it to make themselves feel better. Do you go to the doctor and say hey man i know you make $400 on that there medicine how bout giving me a discount since I know this information. It's like wtf is that! Just shut up and go where you're gonna go and leave people alone.

I needed a brake spring for a Husky 435 and found on online for $1.80 plus $11. to ship it. The $11 was a minimum shipping charge. My local dealer will have it for me net wednesday for $2. and my wife was driving right by so no gas wasted.

Well for your info, I purchased a MS460 powerhead, no warranty, since its getting ported and etc. When the guy said $849.00, that when the questions started. I ended up paying $750.00 out the door from a different dealer that was more than happy to sell me a powerhead with no warranty. He made his money, and I got what I needed. The other dealer got nothing. Sounds like you would have not got a sale either.

I learned from one dealer, customers are a dime dozen, you piss off one, and two more come in the door. He says 50 percent of the people that walk in the door never buy something anyway, so screw the 50 percent that don't buy anything. Guess he knows which is which.
