Some chainsaw clutches have one spring connecting the 3 segments, others have 3 small individual springs connecting the pressure plate mechanism. Are these equally usable in all applications? Are there differences that favor one over the other? I bought a clutch on eBay but the hole is clearly larger than the 266 Husky shaft. Why is this so? Is it simply the wrong one?

thanks

Mike

A good friend of mine had an old Homelite his father gave him and the saw started rattling . He took it to the nearest saw dealer to fix and they told him it would take 2 hours labor + parts cost which was much more than the saw was worth! I asked him if it would run, he started it up, I listened to it with a screwdriver on my ear and determined his "S" clutch was broken. A $20 fix. Ya gotta love parts & labor as they sure put a lot of good saws on the junk pile !
