So as I told a few folks earlier this week; I'm currently cuttin' with a 455 Rancher. I love the saw but I fear it won't hold up over time. Anyways was searching online and I can hit Portland (Oregon is tax free) and pick up a 562xp for 789.00. It would include a 28" bar and chain and with the husq promo a 20" b&c as well leaving me to pick up a 16 inch b&c later on. And of course 22.50 for the 3 quarts of Husq fuel for the extended warranty. Good deal or no? The reason I want to go with a better saw is also because a friend has a 10 acre wooded lot with craploads of lodgepole pine he wants to clear and since I'm retired (retarded), I agreed to help out. I guess I'm looking for someone to help me justify my want for bigger and better haha.

I say if you want it and you can afford the price and wield the saw then do it. :) but I tend to be over the top and like things I don't need hah.

Thanks txtroop,
I've no idea why I need to justify the potential purchase. And as for wielding it...seems ergonomics wise the 562 is leaps and bounds ahead. But I dunno for sure. Pop's had a huge Husq. but it was stolen years ago sadly. I think I'll head south next Monday to Hillsboro and check it out. With the promo it seems a good deal to me. And add a 16 inch b&c and my basis would be generally covered I suppose.

That's just my opinion of course. I don't know how they normally run price wise. But screw it, go for it brother. :) I guess if you felt bad for some crazy reason you could sell off the old one but now I'm speaking blasphemy on AS

Naah I understand they aren't exactly popular long term saws...so the 455 I'll give to my little brother with a couple small mount bars. He however doesn't get my current 20 inch chain line up haha.

I have the 450. It was my first. Still runs after a couple of years and no real issues. But you are about to be playing on a new ball field

It is a whole new ball field for sure txtroop...and I'd not be interested other than longevity of this rancher. So with that said I'll mull over it tonight and maybe order in the morning and lil' brother is south quite a bit, maybe force him to pick it up for me.

I hope your not driving to PDX just to save the tax. That's a lot of time and fuel coming from Seattle!

Yes and No wood4heat. My brother is in that area quite a bit so I can...(pending an order) have him pick it up for me. Yadda yadda, I just can't justify now NOT buying the damned thing considering the freebies involved.

For some odd reason I can't figure out how to pm him or anyone for that matter haha. I reckon I'm technologically impaired!
