My Labonville chainsaw helmet is OK, but I don't always need the face shield and muffs. I just want a comfortable top for my bean when I'm using an axe or crosscut saw.

i really like my old MSA Mac T, its the aluminum full brim. I also bought a bullard full brim, model S71 that i wear when working with the forest service as a volunteer on the North Country Trail, as the really dont like the aluminum ones. But i like the Mac T the best

I'm not sure you can find new Mac-T's any more, but the Skull Bucket aluminum lids are easy to find and have a little cap riveted into the inside for added protection. They also have the newfangled "ratchet" suspension adjustment, which I'm not sure I like yet. Of course, you can still get the old-style suspensions, so that might be the way to go.

The older T Mac tin lids are not allowed to be worn on certain timber companys property here in Oregon. They also are not allowed to have any dents what so ever but the general rule around here is if the dent is deep enough to hold water then the safety guy is going to probably make you get a new one. Skull buckets are defiantly the way to go

I have to wear a plastic Bullard. It is heavy. I draw the line at the ratchet suspension. It won't stay on. I wear the old pop in the hole kind. It stays on through all the acrobatic movements that happen day to day. The ratchet one fell off and I almost broke my nose when I did a face plant and hit my nose on that hardhat.

I kept my old McDonald one. It was the best fitting and most comfy of all the hats I've had. Sigh...

Where do you get the alternate style suspension for a skull bucket? Baileys? I'm not a fan of the ratchet system. .

Yeah get the MacT stays on suspension from Bailey's it snaps right in.
The stock ratchet suspension in the skull bucket sucks.

No dents or dings? They probably wouldn't like this one. So far nobody down here is enforcing that rule. Yet.

I'm a residential tree guy and by no means a logger, but has anybody tried the Fibre-Metal hardhats? Wore these for years working in the mining industry, 60-80 hrs.a week. The ratchet is not like most that take big jumps in adjustment. Very minute adjustments and a very comfortable suspension.
