As I sit here finishing my usual weekend repairs I can't help but wonder if there is any tree service company or even the average joe who can make it through a average week of cutting without something breaking. This week was like any other sharpen six or more saws, true up a couple of bars, and this time like usual there was some major/minor rebuild projects. Not that I am ?????ing or anything, I expect to have weekend repairs but every once in a while I could do without replacing woodruff keys, doing carb adjustments, replacing broken parts/plastic or complete cylinder rebuilds. All of my repairs are done by me to save on cost and keep the full inventory is service, and who can afford to leave 2/3rds of there saws at a dealer for the whole week to get them fixed. I don't feel like this every weekend but today is my daughters birthday and I am stuck in the shop fixing saws for use monday morning. Now everything is done with 2 hours to spare WHOHO. If there is anyone out there under the same conditions please let me know that I am not alone in this world.

:welcome: It happens to everybody. You're not unique. You're not exempt. You're not special. You're normal...quit whining and learn to deal with it:)

Hang in there.

Any chance that you might be able to find a way to streamline your weekend upkeep practices? Maybe teach one of your operators to do part of the upkeep work in exchange for a few extra dollars per hour? As good as it is to save money by doing it yourself, don't overlook the fact that your time does have value...

Budget some time at the end of each day to knock out the little stuff, might leave you with more WE time.

I would have some of the crew do some upkeep on the saws but then who would work on the trucks and deliver wood. Good help is hard to find and I think my crew of 3 gets paid well, they go above and beyond all week and on weekends they don,t let up. Besides saw upkeep is the easiest part, sometimes it's just not that fun. I wasn't whining just wondering what kind of repairs everyone else has to do on a weekly basis
