We have lots and lots of these saws out and it has not been a issue for my customers or myself.. Any saw cutting firewood does require air filter maintenance.

Btw, there was once a similar tread on the MS361 also, but I haven't heard of the problem since, and never experienced any problems.......;)

I agree, but during routine filter maintenance a person shouldn't find dust inside the carb throat. That just tells me that the filter is inadequate. I'm not in any way knocking Dolmar because, I had the same problem with my Shindaiwa 488. Fortunately, Shindaiwa does offer a HD filter kit, although I think that a professional saw should have the best filter available installed from the factory. Just my 2 cents.

Seems like most people suspect that the hole for the carb compensation is what's to blame. Makes enough sense. That foam isn't super durable, I can see it packing out over time. Perhaps a piece of rubber similar to what Stihl uses for their intellicarb would work better, maybe with a longer nipple going into it from the air filter? Not sure how this would be accomplished by us knuckleheads modifying our saws, but perhaps using grease on the vent like ericjeeper suggested using on the venturi would help.
