Please help me decide between the $325 PS401 and the $475 ultra-light ms192 rear-handled.
Only to be used for limbing, trimming and other "light" chores. Haven't been able to try them out.
Both comes with 3/8 lo-pro.

An ms200 would, of course, be no1 for this appl. but I can't justify the $$(around $750).

Can the Dolmar be equipped to run .325 narrow kerf? I use this on my other "light" saw(346).

I know 401 is an old design, but judging by the few threads I've found, it seems to be of decent quality.

Husky 339xp "new edition" probably is a better saw, and comes standard with 95VP/H30 setup......:biggrinbounce2:

I also believe the Dolmar 401 has an edge on the Stihl MS192, for power....

The 192 is not that strong of a runner, I like mine, just for the wieght, but after watching a 200t cut circles around my 346, I really want a 200t!!
People seem to like the new Husky better, can't say for sure, and Dolmar makes a good saw. Not sure if that helped, or confused you more!

Skip the Husky.......................................:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:
.

You just don't like the look of it.......:buttkick: :ices_rofl: :)

The Dolmar PS401 is a proven design lightweight for its power. Does take well to a slight muffler mod. It is available dressed with .325" then its called a PS411 and also comes with a heavier duty clutch.

Ha!

Just what I just were looking for in the IPL.......

Thank you for your swift answers. I don't think PS411 is available here. Is it possible to buy the components to change a 401 to a 411? Price?

And yes, the 339xp IS one ugly piece of equipment. But, if priced like a 401 I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Unfortunately it's even more expensive than the ms200:mad:

:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: That is not the case here, as they usually are on "campaign", like a lot of other smaller Huskys ( not allways officially, but if you ask.....).

That seems really expensive for the 192. Here that saw runs about $300, and the ms200 right around $575.

Why don't you have a husky top handle in the mix? Even the wimpy 334 has more power than the 192. The 338 is nearly on par with the ms200. And to me, the huskys are more balanced, and easier to handle. (But I one hand sometimes) The huskys should be priced right too, considering where you live.

If its only going to be used on the ground, why not get a rear handle, so nobody is tempted to one hand.

While I'm partial to husqvarna, its not because I think they're better. Stihl and Husky both make some really good saws, and some ok saws. I guess I just like the solid orange better.

All saws mentioned are rear handle. Wouldn't mind a husky, but pricing is somewhat stupid here.

I bought a PS401 with 14" b/c a couple months ago and really like it. My only gripes are:
The chain oiler flow is set a tad too high. It always runs out of chain oil before gas.
On mine, the drive sprocket spurs were uneven. Replace it with a GB part, it's much better.
Other than that, it's a great little saw.

Well the 339xp has an adjustable oiler, and mine came with a rim and drum setup, even though the IPLs doesn't show it........:D

Just get the MS200, it will justify itself in the long run.

That as the runner-up on my shortlist, but it didn't feel like it would handle as well, and it has a smaller engine.:)

+ I wanted something that not "everyone" has, this time.....:greenchainsaw: :rockn: :rockn:

I believe it would handle it. I have put it through the paces and it has not let me down or dissapointed me. I really like the saw.
