Stopped at the Dolmar dealer Fri.....and there sits the new 420 & 350.....

Got a chance to fondle it (the 420, didn't even touch the 350) and hear it run. :D

Also compared it to a 401 and first impression is very good. The 420 is slightly wider than the 401 but balanced very well. After repeatedly picking up and comparing the 401 & 420.....I don't feel the 1lb. difference.....Either the 420 is balanced so well you can't feel it or the weight specs are off on one of them. It feels more like a 1/2lb difference to me. The 401 is still lighter though and a bit smaller but the 420 has a little over a 1/2 horse and 1500 more rpm than the 401 so the little extra bloat may well be worth it, if it has the outstanding torque most of the Dolmars have.

Build quality looks exceptional (I could do without the primer bulb though) and the thing just flat sounds sweet, even with the cat muffler!.....For the record it sounds nothing like a 401, not that the 401 sounds bad. They just don't sound the same.

Dealers price was $309.....He says if I want it.....Give him a $100 and my 401 I bought in May.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......:givebeer:

Kyle, that's surprising but I'll take your word on it!

The 420 must be balanced very well than because I sure couldn't feel almost 2lbs difference from the 401.....I still say it appeared to be a very nice saw that could be used all day and not be too tiring......

As a matter of fact, I liked it so much, his offer is really weighing on me....LOL

Right, same weight as the 420, and .7hp more is quite a difference for a small saw + 2000 max rpm more.......

2000 more max rpm than the 420?....You mean the 242xp runs 15,500? :censored:

The ps4200 will be 15,500 from the spec sheet ...

.

...that Ultra is dreaming about - LOL.........:givebeer: :givebeer:

...and remember that I was the first one to mention the need for a 4200S......:greenchainsaw:

Btw, max allowed rpms isn't that important, throttle response and torque at above max hp rpms is more important....

Yep according to the specs it does!

Well, I'll be :censored:.......Too bad it's not made anymore!

Ya know, my old A.H. Fox double barrel, from 1926, handles like a magic wand and will shoot the barrels right off one of those new Turkish made SxS. Not to mention flatten a pheasant 40+ out, with my eyes closed! ......But such is nun.....seeing as they haven't been made for 80 some years.

That's been gone over before...we're talking current production saws...Like a new 242XP is an option???

Sometimes they can be...

My 238se was NIB and was the sister saw to Luke's NIB 242...both came into our possession last year, complete with the tags on 'em and everything!

Now that we have wound him up i bet that 4200 will be modified to run 15,500!
