I have several modded 7900's, but ran the one stock before having it modded!!!

I also had a pair of makita 7301's.............same as a Dolmar 7300 but wearing blue & silver!!!

For the money and power take a pass on the 7300 and go straight to the 7900.............IMO you won't regret it!!!

For the money the 7900 is the best bet!!!

Yup, he is right:hmm3grin2orange:

Epa

Bwalker, Sawtroll, Kipp amd anyone else that thinks the EPA isn't getting tougher with the coal fired industry, you need to open your eyes! I work at a refinery, in the powerhouse that has a coal fired boiler. In the last few years the regs on emissions have gotten stronger. We have gone from being tested once a year to every month, daily records are need for , NOX, SOX, sulpher content of the coal, btu's in the coal, monthly samples, are all reported to the EPA. If we have an opacity deviation for more that 5 minutes it's an automatic fine of $5,000. We must keep all our operating records for YEARS just to keep them happy. All strip charts and computer records need to be saved and turned in. At the same time the plant right next door to us is smoking out there stack and it stinks like he$$ and will give the guys where I work head aches, but they run a gas fired boiler so it's OK.
Sorry I usually don't get upset about things but this one stuck in my craw. I'm all for clean air, but if you think it is just gas and desiel powered equipment that is being regulated you are way wrong.
Oh, Yea try both saws and buy the one that feels best.

I am well aware. My FIL actually works at a coal fired power plant that is part of a EPA pilot program to reduce mercury emmisions. Why are there no mercury emmisions limits on the books in the present? How about carbon output caps? Answer power companys have deep pockets....

mercury

bwalker, not only do they test our emissioms for mercury, but they allso check for other heavy metals.

Thanks for the perspective, boilerhouse, kudos for chiming in. Thanks for helping keep the industry clean! I will say that if the EPA is going to spend their time somewhere, that's where it ought to be, though. Its interesting that the guys next door seem to not be held to the same standard. We all could help out by not doing dumb stuff all day (leaving lights on, computers running 24/7, and the like).

I always felt pretty guilty while I was flying Federal Reserve materials (mostly cancelled checks). My airplane was a fairly modest one (Mitsubishi turboprop) but the thing still burned 600lbs/hr of kerosene. Every night, there are hundreds of aircraft in the skies above the US burning avgas and kerosene JUST to get checks to the right place. I still burn lots of kerosene but at least its to get sick/injured people to medical attention.

We DEFINITELY do some pretty dumb stuff with our non-renewables. Here's the rub, though... it employs millions of people and fuels the economy. Frankly, the whole mess is going to have to change to really make a difference. It'd be nice to change it by choice now rather than have entire industries "die" painfully through fuel prices and regulation. That REALLY pisses people off.

Wasn't this thread about Dolmars or something?? :yoyo:

I just wonder

How much "fuel" did Al Gore and all his [followers | sheep | concert goers | save the earthies] use going to and fro this day?

I guess your "carbon footprint" doesn't count if your intentions are good.

You may test for it, but the limit set buy the EPA is so high its basicly like a usless reg. The plant I was speaking of previously was part of Bush's Clean Coal Intiative. It was one of the test sites for new mercury capture technology.
The point is this technology has been around for years, but it was never tried because the EPA thought it was fine to spew mercury out the stacks. Carbon capture is the same thing. It could be done, but its not because the EPA would rather mess with the OPE industry rather than the power generation industry which is one of the largest sources of pollution.

small business

Andre, I think the reason the place next door gets away with what they do is because it is a small busness. It seems that there are different rules depending on the size of your business and the furnce that you run. Bwalker, I do agree with you that the companys with deep pockets can stall and get the kind of emission regs that do them the most good without much thought to the enviroment.
Didn't mean to side track this thread, so I'll keep quite now.

A good chain saw is one you like and does what you ask it to do.

emissions

Bwalker, you will find that the state of Pennsylvania has some tougher emission laws than the EPA. Kind of makes you wonder who has the EPA in there pocket, Coal Companies, Auto makers, utility companies, the list is to long to mention. I'll be going now, I need to get ready for work. Like I said, I like clean air too. It is something that we need to do much work on. I wasn't arguing with you I just felt you were wrong on a few things here in Pa.
Best of luck and have a nice day.
