I know I would not run it.That’s about a $2000 saw nowadays. I would probably put it on the shelf if it were mine and cut with some thing a little less meaningful

We will see. It will actually be over a year before if/when I will be able to use it due to nerve damage to my right hand. Just excited about a new toy. My father in law is 84 and won't be using his 044 again so will probably be able to use his.I know I would not run it.
Is it really ? I have an 044 slant fin 10 mm in that shape. That’s about a $2000 saw nowadays. I would probably put it on the shelf if it were mine and cut with some thing a little less meaningful

no, but I can get a new 462, a more modern more powerful saw than the 044 and still less than $2000Can you go down the street and pick up a new 044?
If that saw were put up for sale , there would be folks tripping over each other to get a shot at it. I wouldn’t pay $2k for it, maybe, but someone else out there would.no, but I can get a new 462, a more modern more powerful saw than the 044 and still less than $2000
I know a few people still running 044’s, running strong too. I put a few of them through the wringer years ago. If they were new, I’d pay the 462 price for one over the 462. But I’d have a 461 over both.If that saw were put up for sale , there would be folks tripping over each other to get a shot at it. I wouldn’t pay $2k for it, maybe, but someone else out there would.
I've got both, for serious cutting the 44 runs rings around the 462 stock. The 462 is a good limbing saw thoughno, but I can get a new 462, a more modern more powerful saw than the 044 and still less than $2000
