Hi Mark
I hope Ken is feeling better than he was last Friday.I should call him and see how the 7900 is but I think the phone bill is already in the triple digits. It seems like every time I talk to to him I learn something new, sometimes to much to comprehend.I have went to many of smaller Lumberjack contests&shows ask questions and been told to go get ????ed or they clam up,eccept from Rick&Peggy,Lee Heritier and Arnold. But some want to get more people interrested in the sport but won't tell you anything about it.Who,how, when and where. But Ken as always answered any question I had, even the scatter brained stupid ones that Steve wanted me to ask. :D
I know your neighbors will love the sound of your 385KD.Seth

Now thats kerf!!

woods saw

Quote:I know that there is power to be had buy removing the choke plate but to me thats a bit much for a woods saw.

Ben
Steve here... I have have been running my 088KD without a choke for a year and a half now. Squirt gas in the carb when cold... one or two shots starts right up. When the 088KD is warm, it's starts on the first pull every time. Starts better warm or cold than my stock 066A

Seth what scatterbrained questions are you talking about...
Steve

Hello Steve
?4KD
1.Will a coat of polytetrafluortoeth on the bar rails make it faster?
2.How much to take off the side plate when dechroming and what angle?
3.Why does a /64th make such a difference in tooth lead?
4.Why was the early 3120 so susceptible to air leaks or if he ever had a throttle cable hang up and be stuck wfo, with no choke and a fuct up dirty kill switch.
5.Way does John have 346 shrine in his bedroom?
ok steve.Seth

Seth,
Steve here...
Well lets see..
1.polytetrafluortoeth. I don't know what that is, but, if you rub your bar with MolidiumDisulfide, it might make your rail smother and faster. I know it works on my bullets for my 7mm.
2. Dechrome 20 strokes at the same angle as the side plate(per Ken)

3. 1/64 in toof lead makes the tooth more aggresive
4. I have no idea, maybe you should have traded that old 3120 in b4 turned to sheet. lol

5. John's Love for that little 346...He is trying to get in touch with his feminine side

385 Recap

Well boys I spoke with Kenny D lastnite and there will be a new club added to the quiver by this weeks end. I will have it ready for Dans Easter retreat weekend. I might make a stop at Dans this weekend since I am headed to an auction in a town called
"Bird in Hand" it's just a little west of Intercourse PA. Go figure that one out.

All in all Ken told me it's the fastest 385 in the world. Of course that's with a Dennis Bafoon Chain.
Dennis I am trying to bother you, did you get the motor yet?? It shipped Thursday. Check you email for tracking Chisel Chest.

Tommy for me would you charged Gypo double for his chain
for that smart remark he made , Tom with friends like him who needs enemys

Well I ran the the KD 385 today it has plenty under the hood for my little ol logging operation and to boot it's nice and loud. When I came in from running it I only had 2 phone calls from my neighbors complaining about about the noise.

I was so proud of myself I didn't even have to make a call to figure out how to put the bar and chain on. Now I am not going to go out on a limb but tomorrow I would bet that at least one neighbor or the cops come to ask me to stop because of the noise.

Well I had a chance to run the KD385, it is a strong saw and became stronger as the day went on. I brought it over to my friend’s work yard and I cut about 8 cords with it today. He has a track Bobcat excavator with a thumb on the bucket. He picked up the logs and I bucked them. All while Pedro and Jose pumped them through an original Brute splitter. He was amazed out how that saw cut. Of course he runs Stihls with dull chain.

One thing I have to get used to is not having a choke plate. When we took a break for lunch I had to reprime the carb. It’s not a big deal but after about 15 pulls a light bulb went of. For bucking it’s a nice saw, if I had to lug it around all day in the woods I would go for a 372xp. Where I am at I could get by with a 357 but since someone has my 357 the 385 will do. All in all it rounds out my quiver.

Yeah, well Ed has my 357, any guesses what he's gonna do to 'er? Ed, make sure you ship it in stealth mode...otherwise who knows how long befo' I get 'er...and how many grubby hands she'd be subjected to...oh my, I don't even want to think about it....maybe you should keep an eye out for the chastity belt for her I might get pre-fitted and send to ya, Ed.

I did find an extra PP357 in my shop, while I was hunting for a 385. I forgot who the 357 belonged to, so I sent it out to rbtree for a demo.

z4lunch
I have used MolidiumDisulfide on the sears of the 1911 colts design for over 30 years. It will take about 1/2 pound of pull off of the trigger and it will last well over 500 rounds.

Dan,
Just a quick note from my better half. She said after the conversation you and I had that took place over 5-6 counties while I was driving home from the NYSLA meeting and you said it was 10 min. (1.75 hrs on my phone) That she want YOU to time her at the get together. With reactions like that she said she should be able to run in the low .01 of a seconds. All this with any saw that can acctualy go ring-a-ding...

Later,
Chris

Dan if that saw goes to Roger then ship the 372, don't bother lifting the 385 from your shop my back hurts today.

I am a little lost on this triangle thing, If I become a spokesman for your saws would you sell my eggs I only ship once a month uninsured:D

Now for this oil gig. Here a little ditty on Break free clp http://www.pcmedics.net/shooters/break_free.htm

Here's there home page http://www.break-free.com/index.htm

I have used this lube on my guns for many years, in my Beretta shotguns 303,390 and now the 391's. Spray it on wet and leave it. This stuff is amazing, since I am lazy cleaning my gas shotguns it's a dream come true. There has plenty of times in South America when shooting doves were you shoot 4000 rouds in a day and your just s little tired and sore. Next day give it a good soaking and it's off to the races. Of course if you shoot the Remington semi Clubs you will need the rubber O rings. As far as moly on bullets that's never been prover to work people say it does but I have never seen Bench rest shooters at the big shoots using it. It's a big joke. Take a moly coated bullet and leave it in your pocket for a week and see if it's still on there. If I owned a bullet company I would sell it since it's cheap and easy money.

Dan I have a little trick for you. If you need I will send you some. On your 911's take a little dentist tooth polish the kind they use after a cleaning, now with a dremal and a fine polishing tip work that sear til it shines.

RBtree who did you get that saw from, i see his name on the box but who is he on here, i would just like to know how much time has been on this motor before i try and send the piston to outer space , if you can find out for me

Mark ,
congas on the new addition to your addiction, I'm sure she is top notch will see if it will run with the 7900's
I have a hankering also just don't know for what.......... maybe something on funny fuel....

I do like them their cookies just fine but I have to admit I like this better fer'sure

So RBTree the 357 is the one hotrod sold you ?
it has had 9 tanks of fuel threw it , so it should be okay to scream now

Well here's the update on the KD 385, I lent it out to a friend in Vermont and he is just tearing up the woods with it. He just loves it and I don't know when I am going to have it back. He and his logging buddy are very impressed with Kens work. After seeing the pics of Ken from up at Doug's place he looks very cool in that there tropic shirt.
Thanks Again Ken.

Another 385KD update the saw is on it's way back out to Ken for a new carb. The test ride will be Oriville at the end of the month. I am getting stoked.

Hey Barky, what's the model # of the carb? Lol. I want to put one on mine too, if I don't already have it on there already.
Get one of those high compression oil caps from Ken as well.
John

I already have one of the high compression oil caps it's like the one on your new 7900EHP. Ken is going to use a MAC {sp}carb for a 3120. I"ll pick the saw up at Oriville so I will have 1 saw to run.
Ken and I talked more about the dopes that work at Newark airport then anything. I couldn't stop laughing when he impersinated the workers at the deli.

Then after I get the saw home I will take the carb apart and post pictures so some members can understand what they are doing or getting there new self thaught brainstorm. LOL
