So after close to 200 transactions on ebay over 9 years, I have gotten my first negative feedback and it is a hell of a story. So I bought a Poulan 4000 locally, I cleaned the carb, tuned it and did some cutting. Fuel line had been replaced priorly. All was good besides the tank vent pieces missing. Cut and oiled well. I throw it on ebay and sell it to bowmaster-saws912. I check him out a little and he is the guy that sells bows for the older poulans. I shipped the saw and then I get this message:
Hello,I have bad news. Your 4000 saw is not accurately described. You stated it only needed 2 parts for the vent. That was true. However you failed to mention the gas tank was leaking because whoever changed the fuel line and filter installed too small a gas line and I had to take the saw back apart and replace the fuel line to stop the fuel leak that you didn't mention. I was going to just let it go but after I got it started and by the way,it does start and run real good, however you stated the oiler works very well. The auto oiler does not work period and I am fixing to put one in it. Notice item# 260541130544.I sell them for $45 all the time. Right now,you owe me about $50 worth of parts and about $35 labor.I hope you turn your pc on often because this is going to need resolving ASAP.
So I offer a full refund and return shipping. I also told him that working on the saw before even resolving the situation first was wrong and I'm not paying for the parts and labor. No service industry fixes something without getting consent first.
I get this in return:
No sir it ain't going to happen. I just got done with that saw about an hour ago and I have got about 4 hours labor in it because I had a lot of trouble with the auto oiler.None of this is my fault. You were probably using the manual oiler which it was weak itself. You can't expect to missrepresent one this bad and somebody have to work on it half a day and think their time isn't worth anything so they end up fixing it for you for nothing and just send it back. Nope, it ain't going to happen. You knew the tank was leaking also because you stated the vent was missing parts and that's what you thought was causing the leak. Time is money brother.According to your description, there was nothing wrong with this nice saw so now there ain't but 1 way to resolve it since I am the one that spent all the time fixing it.
Shoot him back that my full refund offer is still on the table. Also the part about working on it without a solution.....I get this back:
I beg your pardon,I contacted you immediately even before I removed that bad oil pump. Look at the time of the Emails. You are the one that chose to wait 5 1/2 hours before answering my Email. I am not going to argue with you about it all day long. If the saw had not been missrepresented and everything worked well like you claimed it did, then none of this would have happened in the 1st place. It was wrong of you to do that and I fix saws for a living and every time I sell one, buyers hold me accountable when I make mistakes. The only way I will return the saw is for you to pay for the repairs since this is 100% your fault. The next time you change a fuel line,it might be a good idea that you check it and be sure it's not leaking gas and blame it on a vent line that you left parts out of.If you insist on doing this kind of work then you might want to sell all your stuff as is and not bragg and boast about how nice and how well everything works.I'll give you 24 hours to think about it.
I guess I should be around my computer every waning second. Opps, I forgot I have school and work to take care of too. I also guess an offer of a full refund and return shipping is not good enough. SO please AVOID bowmaster-saws912 like the black plague. He is one of the reasons Ebay has such a poor reputation. Thanks for letting me vent guys!
