So after close to 200 transactions on ebay over 9 years, I have gotten my first negative feedback and it is a hell of a story. So I bought a Poulan 4000 locally, I cleaned the carb, tuned it and did some cutting. Fuel line had been replaced priorly. All was good besides the tank vent pieces missing. Cut and oiled well. I throw it on ebay and sell it to bowmaster-saws912. I check him out a little and he is the guy that sells bows for the older poulans. I shipped the saw and then I get this message:

Hello,I have bad news. Your 4000 saw is not accurately described. You stated it only needed 2 parts for the vent. That was true. However you failed to mention the gas tank was leaking because whoever changed the fuel line and filter installed too small a gas line and I had to take the saw back apart and replace the fuel line to stop the fuel leak that you didn't mention. I was going to just let it go but after I got it started and by the way,it does start and run real good, however you stated the oiler works very well. The auto oiler does not work period and I am fixing to put one in it. Notice item# 260541130544.I sell them for $45 all the time. Right now,you owe me about $50 worth of parts and about $35 labor.I hope you turn your pc on often because this is going to need resolving ASAP.

So I offer a full refund and return shipping. I also told him that working on the saw before even resolving the situation first was wrong and I'm not paying for the parts and labor. No service industry fixes something without getting consent first.

I get this in return:

No sir it ain't going to happen. I just got done with that saw about an hour ago and I have got about 4 hours labor in it because I had a lot of trouble with the auto oiler.None of this is my fault. You were probably using the manual oiler which it was weak itself. You can't expect to missrepresent one this bad and somebody have to work on it half a day and think their time isn't worth anything so they end up fixing it for you for nothing and just send it back. Nope, it ain't going to happen. You knew the tank was leaking also because you stated the vent was missing parts and that's what you thought was causing the leak. Time is money brother.According to your description, there was nothing wrong with this nice saw so now there ain't but 1 way to resolve it since I am the one that spent all the time fixing it.

Shoot him back that my full refund offer is still on the table. Also the part about working on it without a solution.....I get this back:

I beg your pardon,I contacted you immediately even before I removed that bad oil pump. Look at the time of the Emails. You are the one that chose to wait 5 1/2 hours before answering my Email. I am not going to argue with you about it all day long. If the saw had not been missrepresented and everything worked well like you claimed it did, then none of this would have happened in the 1st place. It was wrong of you to do that and I fix saws for a living and every time I sell one, buyers hold me accountable when I make mistakes. The only way I will return the saw is for you to pay for the repairs since this is 100% your fault. The next time you change a fuel line,it might be a good idea that you check it and be sure it's not leaking gas and blame it on a vent line that you left parts out of.If you insist on doing this kind of work then you might want to sell all your stuff as is and not bragg and boast about how nice and how well everything works.I'll give you 24 hours to think about it.

I guess I should be around my computer every waning second. Opps, I forgot I have school and work to take care of too. I also guess an offer of a full refund and return shipping is not good enough.:dizzy: SO please AVOID bowmaster-saws912 like the black plague. He is one of the reasons Ebay has such a poor reputation. Thanks for letting me vent guys!

Wow. I guess he expects someone to sit right at the computer all day and not have a life.

For what it is worth I am with you, he should not have touched any repairs to that saw without having made contact with you and sending you an eMail is not considered contact until you answer his original message, even if it takes 2-3 days. If he wants to tear into the saw and fix it so he can sell it quickly then he should have to pay the consequences. I will avoid this guy in the future, that is not a good eBayer in my books.

i emailed him and asked what other parts have been changed on the saw, and stated that i have been looking for bowsaw and this one looks nice. we'll see what kind of response we get.

Id love to track that SOB down and kick him in the gonads for you Andy. Everything I see he did wrong. Id take the bad feedback and not worry about it. If Ebay calls tell them the facts. :)

Thanks for agreeing with me guys. It really does tick me off, but what I'm supposed to do after offering the full refund and return shipping? Nothing but let the chips fall where they may.

Andrew, your story has me steaming right now! I see his acutions all the time and all his auctions seemed shady and too high to boot.

He deals in Poulans alot and I wouldn't buy from him before and sure wont now no matter what Poulan or Poulan parts he has. I will throw the saw in the dumpster first.

You need to get ahold of Ebay now! You are not required to sit at the computer 24-7 and your offer of a refund and shipping right off the bat should hold up for you.

You can find the # and call ebay now.

Bowmasterbater is what he should change his name to.

EDIT, I just thought of something, did you use the same size fuel line for the vent and fuel hose? They use 2 different sized holes in the tank and the vent hose is actually bigger, so if you didn't enlage the tank hole for the vent line sized hole there is no way it was leaking.

I wish I would have bought it now.

Thats one thing I don't like about Ebay. They have gotten pretty restrictive for the seller. You can list a rebutal in your feedback stating you offered a full refund. It sucks but it is all you can do.

A very stupid move for a guy who has top rated seller status. If you had 4 friends and forty bucks, you could knock his #### in the dirt and cost him an extra 20% in ebay fees for at least the next year. :censored:

Ebay is creating these kind of buyers.

Hey Andy,

This guy has had some history with Ebay on the bars he sells. I looked at some of his stuff and the words, this photo represents the bar but may not be the one you receive, whoa, hold the fort, I was born at night, but not last night. I think I will steer clear from this guy from now on.

Your fine, he touched the saw before any problems were resolved so its on him as we have all seen before. I hate getting neg feedback.

Ebay and paypal suck but there the only ones around so you have to work with them.

Keep talking, I'm listening!

Maybe I need to change my mind and buy someting after all. :givebeer:

If those are indeed the verbatim exchanges than I am 100% with Epic.Dood should not have done anything to that saw and given you a REASONABLE amount of time to rectify the situation.

Excuse me,I'm headed over to fleabay to pepper a certain seller with inane, nonsensical questions.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

I bought it with the new tygon lines in it. The vent hose was of the same diameter as the fuel line.

I plan on calling ebay here in the next day or so. If nothing is resolved through them, I will just use the respond part under the negative feedback.

I agree. The buyer in this case can create whatever story he wants and he sounds like a liar and a blowhard to me. I just put this cull on my blocked list permanently.
