Yup, that whole ordeal sucks. Bottom line, if he wasn't happy with the purchase, then he shouldn't have fixed it without consent. As soon as he did that, his bargaining chips were off the table.

Yep, I learned this lesson with the "038" that really was a "real good running 036 Pro", lol. I already tore it apart to inspect damage before claim was complete, my bad.

Andrew, you can dispute the feedback claim, but im sure you know this.

Excuse me,I'm headed over to fleabay to pepper a certain seller with inane, nonsensical questions.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Im in too. I have dealt with Andrew several times, and he is top notch!

So after close to 200 transactions on ebay over 9 years, I have gotten my first negative feedback and it is a hell of a story. So I bought a Poulan 4000 locally, I cleaned the carb, tuned it and did some cutting. Fuel line had been replaced priorly. All was good besides the tank vent pieces missing. Cut and oiled well. I throw it on ebay and sell it to bowmaster-saws912. I check him out a little and he is the guy that sells bows for the older poulans. I shipped the saw and then I get this message:

Hello,I have bad news. Your 4000 saw is not accurately described. You stated it only needed 2 parts for the vent. That was true. However you failed to mention the gas tank was leaking because whoever changed the fuel line and filter installed too small a gas line and I had to take the saw back apart and replace the fuel line to stop the fuel leak that you didn't mention. I was going to just let it go but after I got it started and by the way,it does start and run real good, however you stated the oiler works very well. The auto oiler does not work period and I am fixing to put one in it. Notice item# 260541130544.I sell them for $45 all the time. Right now,you owe me about $50 worth of parts and about $35 labor.I hope you turn your pc on often because this is going to need resolving ASAP.

So I offer a full refund and return shipping. I also told him that working on the saw before even resolving the situation first was wrong and I'm not paying for the parts and labor. No service industry fixes something without getting consent first.

I get this in return:

No sir it ain't going to happen. I just got done with that saw about an hour ago and I have got about 4 hours labor in it because I had a lot of trouble with the auto oiler.None of this is my fault. You were probably using the manual oiler which it was weak itself. You can't expect to missrepresent one this bad and somebody have to work on it half a day and think their time isn't worth anything so they end up fixing it for you for nothing and just send it back. Nope, it ain't going to happen. You knew the tank was leaking also because you stated the vent was missing parts and that's what you thought was causing the leak. Time is money brother.According to your description, there was nothing wrong with this nice saw so now there ain't but 1 way to resolve it since I am the one that spent all the time fixing it.

Shoot him back that my full refund offer is still on the table. Also the part about working on it without a solution.....I get this back:

I beg your pardon,I contacted you immediately even before I removed that bad oil pump. Look at the time of the Emails. You are the one that chose to wait 5 1/2 hours before answering my Email. I am not going to argue with you about it all day long. If the saw had not been missrepresented and everything worked well like you claimed it did, then none of this would have happened in the 1st place. It was wrong of you to do that and I fix saws for a living and every time I sell one, buyers hold me accountable when I make mistakes. The only way I will return the saw is for you to pay for the repairs since this is 100% your fault. The next time you change a fuel line,it might be a good idea that you check it and be sure it's not leaking gas and blame it on a vent line that you left parts out of.If you insist on doing this kind of work then you might want to sell all your stuff as is and not bragg and boast about how nice and how well everything works.I'll give you 24 hours to think about it.

I guess I should be around my computer every waning second. Opps, I forgot I have school and work to take care of too. I also guess an offer of a full refund and return shipping is not good enough.:dizzy: SO please AVOID bowmaster-saws912 like the black plague. He is one of the reasons Ebay has such a poor reputation. Thanks for letting me vent guys!

Here is my original auction:

funny how stuff works, you contacted me first to find a source for rings, then to offer to sell it to me. When I asked you for comp and pictures of ther p/c you never answered. However, you did remember to tell 67mustang he was in competition with me to buy the saw.....

I put this in every one of the ebay ads I list

"All parts and equipment are sold as is,no warranty,no returns as I can not control how equipment was used or the skill and ability of the operator. All parts and equipment are described as accurately and thoroughly as possible if you have any further questions ask before bidding."

I almost never run into a problem I can't resolve with the buyer, but this protects me from BS like this.

This buyer is way out of line.

I know what it is like to get undeserved negative feedback from some crackpot.

You did all that should have been expected when you offered a full refund. You can answer his negative and state that you offered a full refund.

For him to repair the saw and expect you to pay is ridiculous.

Yeah, I'll stay away from him. You can be sure of that.

I just notice how he changed the air filter cover over to a 3700 style cover and trys to make it sound like he done someone a favor.

What a crock.

Thats a 3400 style cover and I hope someone buys it and calls him to the carpet over it for not being as described.

You may feel protected but you are in no way protected from a neg or eating a full return at the buyer's whim. You might have been lucky to date, or just sold decent stuff to good buyers, but you have no protection on ebay whatever, just because you put something in the terms of your auction.

That's the truth.

He's right. I don't wanna get close to a horrifying eBay story I was the victim of. Just trust me, he's right. :)

wow an AS moderator and an expert on Ebay!

Ok, back on topic. Im thinking of buying that saw and sticking it to him. Just putting a game plan together.

Keep talking, I'm listening!

Maybe I need to change my mind and buy someting after all. :givebeer:

It's easy, for every item you buy, you get one bite at the apple. When you get your item you have several choices

1) Break it and claim damage
2) Say it's uglier than the description and not what you expected
3) Open a case with ebay or not
4) Make similar complaints to your cc and chargeback
5) a)Give positive fb and give all 1's on the dsr scores, if it's a busy buyer he won't know who did it
b) Give neg fb and give 1's on all dsr scores
c) Give Neutral fb and 1's

You can do any or all of the above. The dsr scores rule. A seller is only allowed 3 low numbers a year and still maintain their top rated selling status. That status gets them a 20% discount on their ebay fees. There are three store levels on ebay, basic, premium, and anchor. If you get more than the allotted low scores, you cannot have a premium or anchor store. What does that mean? Well under the new rules a basic store can list a fixed price item at 20 cents, the premium gets the same listing @ 5 cents and the anchor @ 3 cents. Ebay has set up this system of dsr scores specifically because they end up making more money with it.
They offer you the option of grading with 5 stars, if you got all 4's guess what? You would no longer be allowed to sell on ebay. Test score-wise that's an 80 average, which most people would think is acceptable. The funny thing is there is no middle ground in the scring process between 80 and 100. Ebay knows what they are doing and it pays to know how to use that very system in case you need it.
