Good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people. Just sucks when bad people do bad things to good people. Don't worry though this guy will get what he deserves sooner or later. I believe they call that Kharma.

It's easy, for every item you buy, you get one bite at the apple. When you get your item you have several choices

1) Break it and claim damage
2) Say it's uglier than the description and not what you expected
3) Open a case with ebay or not
4) Make similar complaints to your cc and chargeback
5) a)Give positive fb and give all 1's on the dsr scores, if it's a busy buyer he won't know who did it
b) Give neg fb and give 1's on all dsr scores
c) Give Neutral fb and 1's

You can do any or all of the above. The dsr scores rule. A seller is only allowed 3 low numbers a year and still maintain their top rated selling status. That status gets them a 20% discount on their ebay fees. There are three store levels on ebay, basic, premium, and anchor. If you get more than the allotted low scores, you cannot have a premium or anchor store. What does that mean? Well under the new rules a basic store can list a fixed price item at 20 cents, the premium gets the same listing @ 5 cents and the anchor @ 3 cents. Ebay has set up this system of dsr scores specifically because they end up making more money with it.
They offer you the option of grading with 5 stars, if you got all 4's guess what? You would no longer be allowed to sell on ebay. Test score-wise that's an 80 average, which most people would think is acceptable. The funny thing is there is no middle ground in the scring process between 80 and 100. Ebay knows what they are doing and it pays to know how to use that very system in case you need it.

I knew a little of this but not all thanks.

Im questioning that seller to death playing the "031-310" dumb game. I cant understand why his ms290 oil pump wont fit my 031!! The dealer said it was the same!!:confused::jester::jester:

funny how stuff works, you contacted me first to find a source for rings, then to offer to sell it to me. When I asked you for comp and pictures of ther p/c you never answered. However, you did remember to tell 67mustang he was in competition with me to buy the saw.....

Hmm, funny how I remember it different than you. I remember you wanted the piston and cylinder only and was asking what I wanted for just those parts. I told you I wanted to keep the saw intact and was open to offers on the saw and didn't get a response back as far as I know. Steve did make an offer on the entire saw and now looking back on it, I should have taken it, but I was going off of completed ebay listings for pricing.

You may feel protected but you are in no way protected from a neg or eating a full return at the buyer's whim. You might have been lucky to date, or just sold decent stuff to good buyers, but you have no protection on ebay whatever, just because you put something in the terms of your auction.

That's the truth.

We sell 15,000-20,000$ a year on ebay, and still have 100% positive feedback.
I work damn hard at being as accurate, detailed and honest as possible. It's not just luck.

actually, no. I asked for the price of the p/c only and the price of the saw. I got no response to that question, or to how much comp the saw had. Anyhow, you thought you had the goose that layed the golden egg, turns out, not so much....

Well congrats to you, luck or not. But whatever you do or don't sell has no bearing on whether or not your auction terms protect you. They don't.

Come on dude, show some respect and quit muddying up this thread with that bullcrap. If you have a problem, take it somewhere else, like PMs!

I just told you in my previous post, I responded that I wanted to keep the saw intact, so I wasn't gonna sell the P&C separately. I also told you I was accepting offers on it. I also told you I don't own a comp gauge and only got it tested right before I put it on ebay, which was quite a while later after we quit PMing each other. If you feel I wronged you some way, I'm sorry as that was not my attention, but I responded to your questions......

Buyer is obviously blind, brain dead and disshonest and a total dissgrace to Ebay

One hostile dude :monkey:

To the Op your story has me pissed, I can't imagine how you must feel. I noticed he has some Pioneer parts. I will buy something from him to leave him a neg. I know its not right, but he had this whole scam figured out before he even received your saw. I'm dealing with a PSYCHO bee-otch now that bought from me on Friday, asks me 10 questions a day since Friday, and still has not payed.

That is Sooo True, Trimmmed,
I sold a BR550 Backpack blower, It got bid up to nearly the price of a new one, (when I see that happen now, -it worries me). It was clean and ran perfect, and was capable of spinning itself in circles when left on dry pavement with the throtttle wide open. I ship it clear across the country from CT to CA. The buyer calls me and says "its not powerful enough". I had no choice but to take it back (if I want to maintain my 100 feedback score) and so I did, and he knew it too -I figure he just had buyer's remorse.

"Yup, that whole ordeal sucks. Bottom line, if he wasn't happy with the purchase, then he shouldn't have fixed it without consent. As soon as he did that, his bargaining chips were off the table."

+1

Buyers should fully expect underlying problems with any saw you buy on E-Bay, or anywhere else. Most sellers aren't smart enough to even know what's wrong with them in the first place. It's a "crap-shoot" to get a nice E-Bay saw that's trouble free and doesn't need some help someplace.

If you purchase a saw (or anything else) start making repairs and/or modifications, you BOUGHT THE SAW, no express verbal or written Warrantee will apply. Take your case to small claims Court and see what the Judge tells you?

If the repairs were made, and NOT authorized by the seller, don't expect to go back after the seller to get compensation.

It's absurd to buy a saw, find more troubles with it than were listed, make repairs, then bellyache about it and want compensation.

Even worse to go after the seller with negative feedback.

4 hours to replace an oil pump on a chain saw!?!?! Did I read that correctly? If so, don't quit your day job!....FWIW.....Cliff
