Oh I was just kidding, I have been down there. Hilton Head, Rockhill, Columbia
A tad humid in the summer though.

Just trying a little innocent instigating, one must be cautious

just like you were trying to insinuate that Nebraska has no trees! Found a real nice 7 foot diameter yesterday. Goes up about 8 foot and splits into 5 different stumps!

Have watched and participated in the buying and selling on Ebay also. Agree that most sellers put the Stihl name in the ad to gain more views. When someone does a Stihl search, anything with the word Stihl in the desciption will show up. Have to be careful with the buying because it is very easy to get caught up with a 'have to win this item' frenzy for an item and overpay for it. Another tip for buying and selling is watch the days of the week, seems prices usually cheaper to buy early in the week and go up towards the weekend. Something to think about. :)

am bidding on an 1130G homelite with a 36" bar! Will defintely clean it up, the sa is coming out of Cazenovia, I think New York.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4350696531 Looks like I won it! Will probably end up replacing the chain, but defintely an oldie! Any ideas for it? :)

Start taking some vitamins and doing some arm exercises to haul that beast aound with you. :)

it will the first saw almost as old as me! Figure it would be a really good project saw!

Old & wild, I have one of those old monsters too. Its a lot better than you might think from the typical comments about old heavy saws. It will definitly cut BIG diameter wood in a efficient fashion! Small wood..its a bit much. The thing you need to do with it is check the coil wire to the plug where it connects to the coil...I have found two of four to be loose there. If it doesn't have spark, bet the problem is there even before you get to the points. (Same with that entire series of Homelites. (C5-thru-XL-1020 with points ignition). Carb kits are still being marketed by Oregon, I bought a handfull from my local chain saw store for about 6 dollars each. I had one of that series (XP-1020) where the fuel line was rotted in the tank. Pretty common for those old Homelites from what I have seen. Its better to just take the tank apart to fix it. ...but I'm rambling.

Congrats. Your going to be...impressed once you get it running.

ALSO you CAN convert these to a .404 chain if you can find the following sprocket Homelite PN70353. Probably a good idea. (I'm still running half inch but plan to change)

ok, the specs on Mike's site show 1/2" chain on it, but how will I check to see if it has 1/2 or .404? This saw will be more of a project than a use saw, since I don't have that much around that my 24" can't take down. Depending on the condition of the bar, I might have to replace the bar. I double checked the email addy, and he is from Wisconsin, southwest Wisconson as a matter of fact.
