Echo 300 EVL bar cover

Does anyone know how to get the bar cover off of an Echo 300 EVL? I think I have the correct manual and it says just take off the bar nuts but the back end of the cover won't budge. I pried with a screwdriver as hard as I dared but the cover is sheetmetal and I don't want to bend it out of shape if I can help it. There's a screw at the rear end that could be into the cover but I took that out and no dice. I just want to take the bar off so it will not cost an arm and a leg to ship if and when i sell it.
