I was looking at a 50 cc chainsaw to replace the Mac 10-10. Was considering the Stihl MS 261. The only place around that sells the Huskys are the big box stores. The 3 Stihl dealers in my town did not have a 261 in stock, but said if I wanted to go ahead and pay for it, they would be happy to order one. Hmmm.

So, I went down to the local small engine shop that carries, Dolmar, Shindawa and Echo and services all of his products. I bought the Echo 590 Timberwolf w/20" bar with 3/8 chain for $399.00 +tax (including a case, extra chain, 6pack synthetic oil and quart of bar oil).

I ran 4 tanks of gas thru it today in Hedge Apple. LOVE the way it runs on top end and cuts. I'm a little disapointed with the idle right now. It dies after a minute or so after finishing a cut.

I'm going to read the manual tonight and maybe swing it by the dealer in the morning to see if we can do some adjusting.

The 590 pulls the 20" bar extremely well. I'm impressed so far.

Deererainman, I like your avatar picture . I must try parking my tractor like that ,it would take up much less room ! Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Jeff. Dad was pulling a 20ft batwing mower, ran over a stump and reared the front end all the way over. If not for the roll bar and him having the seat belt on, it could have been really bad.
