ECHO chainsaw warranty five years?

I recently purchased a new echo chainsaw on line. It was missing the owners manual so i called echo to get one coming and during the conversation with cus omer sevice i come to find out that you have no warranty unless you purchase the saw from an authorized dealer such as (home depot). To say the least i was slightly upset. He explained to me that they(home depot) would check the saw out before i left the store with the saw. After i quit laughfing i told him that is B.S. all they do is hand you a box and send you on your way. I guess since they went to the so called five year warranty that is there way of renegging on there resonsibilty as a quality manf. of outdoor eqiupment. I looked at the warranty for my husqvarna saw and it states that it begains on the date it is deliverd. So any of you that intend on buying a echo procduct on line beware.

I don't get the point you're trying to make. If you buy a saw online and they are not an authorized retailer then you don't get a warranty. It doesn't matter what brand it is. If you buy a new Husqvarna or Stihl online from a non-authorized retailer you don't get a warranty from the either.

Might be "new news" for Echo but it has been the normal on other brands for years.

You could try registering the chainsaw. Maybe maybe your on-line source is an authorized dealer?

I don't think it is as much that Home Depot will check the saw but you can be guaranteed the saw is brand new, never used and any damage present would have to be from the manufacturer. When you buy a saw from a "outside" source only god knows what that saw has been through. Yes it may be brand new but who knows what the owner has done to it? To the best of my knowledge, warranty work has always requires a dated sales receipt from a authorized dealer.

Online sales is prohibited from Echo. So even if you bought it from a legitimate retailer, it is still not warranty because the contract has been breached. Only Home Depot is allowed to sell online.

if you get one from a non dealer you have to register it online,,then if you have a problem you have to call them and they will send you to a dealer to get it fixed,,but then good luck getting something fixed under warrenty,,they always will find a reason not to warrenty something,,i know because a friend of mine is an echo dealer and he told me that they look for anything that will void the warrenty due to customer doing something wrong,, thats why i never worry about warrenties. any new saw i buy the first thing it gets is a MM and limiters trimmed

I agree with this post. My wife wanted to help me with firewood,she said she could limb and cut small rounds. So I looked for the lightest saw I could find,which happened to be an echo. It also looked like a good size for carving. I bought it from an authorized dealer and even paid more then I could have gotten it at Home Depot. The dealer serviced it(fuel and oil) and started it put a tach on it and said it was good to go. I got it home and found it would not run during a cut. There was limiters on the carb adjustment screws so you could not adjust it. Back to the dealer. With out checking it he told me I ran bad gas in it and it would need cleaned out and that the warranty would not cover it.

I informed him that the gas that was in it was still the gas he put in it and that I had not added any gas. This dealer is a bird,he still insisted it was my fault and that the saw was not under the warranty. I took it home took the limiters out and adjusted the carb.The saw runs great now,but the so called warranty is gone because I took the limiters off.What warranty anyhow? Because of this dealer I will never buy another Echo again,I also have told many of my friends about him. Because I use to sell saws I have a few people now and then that ask me which saw. I always tell them find a good dealer then buy that saw. In other areas Echo may have good dealers. He also sells gas and some groceries,I will never buy any thing from him again. Yep he made money on that saw,but he will lose in the long run.

Who cares what the warranty is or isn't? You're gonna mod the muffler, pop the limiters, and adjust the carb as soon as it comes home, which will void the warranty anyway...

thats how i feel,,,i could care less about the warrenty because of that,,,that new ms-361 i got at teh end of last year the warrenty was void 15 minutes after it hit the kitchen table:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Yep, and no offence to anyone, but I wouldn't want the dealers in my area working on my saw anyways. A couple bad dealer repairs(and rip offs) is 90% of the reason I found this great site,,,,and Im glad I did.

It'll run just fine for a long time, fresh mix, keep chain sharp, tune properly, dont worry.

In most cases, you will still have to produce a receipt for warranty work.

You sir are correct. I'm having a warranty issue at the moment. Seems like PLASTIC parts aren't warranty covered. Hint. The chain catcher is a piece of plastic moulded to the clutch cover and snaps off when the chain jumps. Next week I'm meeting my dealer for a talk. If I get good news I'll update on the thread, Echo warranty stinks. Good luck
