Thank for the replies guys! It is going to take a little time to see if this can be done or not. The customs is probably going to be the biggest hurdle! If it can be done I am planning on having parts available too! But give me at least 30-45 days to see if we can get the deal done!

just to let you all know notice how hard it is to find echo parts for the older saws now adays ? well if you check our inventory on our store you will see we are running a special on the certain parts expecally the case covers and the electrical components such as points condensers and coils

so check it out thanks

calvin

oh to add a note to this if you cannot find the part you need guess what we still have tons and tons of echo that is not on the store so let us know what you need thanks

Just one question before everyone gets real exicited about this dream saw. I have a letter from Echo Inc stating that this model saw and a few others can't legally be brought into the United States because it dosen't meet a few EPA and or Safety specs and the only way i was going to get one here was to fly to Japan myself and pick it up then tear it down and ship it here in parts to get thru customs. So maybe you have better connections. But i would hate to see 75 of them sitting on the dock in Calif and can't get any farther. Just my thought...Bob

One Letter...

Subject: CS-1201/ Singapore Dist.

Mr. Wright,

Your e-mail was forwarded by our distributor in Singapore to Echo, Incorporated (USA). The CS-1201 is not available in the United States. Specifications and certifications in the U.S. are different for countries outside the United States. All products available in the U.S. must meet government regulations and state requirements.
Retailers could encounter severe liability issues if Echo products are sold outside the U.S. or do not meet state requirements in the U.S.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact Echo's Consumer Support Department at 1800-673-1558.

Sincerely,

Betty Nava
Consumer Support Rep.

Bob- I'm with you on your experience of trying to bring in a single unit on your own, however I'm quite certain that a deal could be struck through a private broker for a number of saws, especially if they were sent to a Canadian address. I know of at least one broker who struck a deal for 200 Brazilian-made Stihl MS-660s with the now non-legal dual port mufflers.

I was wondering what the difference(s) is(are) between the CS-1201 and the CS-1200? Mike Acres only has the CS-1200 listed and only with a tiny bit of info on it. Echo has both ipl's listed but no owner's manual for the CS-1200.

I don't remember a quote being said but I say no less than $1000. With shipping costs....

I would say that you're probably exactly right. I wouldn't be surprised if the selling price is even more based upon the price point of the CS-8000. The real selling point of this saw, if it matters to you, is the fact that you'll probably be the only joker that you will ever personally know in your life that has one; when compared against folks in the States. If you don't travel much; the last statement will most likely prove to be entirely true!

Are you going to be a contestant on The Price Is Right?

LOL, I can make a poll??? Just don't misquote me, terrible things will happen.

A few years back I axed my dealer for a cs8000. He said if he could find one, get ready to spend $900-1000. This guy also sells the cs370 for $325, one of the reasons I found a real saw to buy and use.

I've never seen a CS-8000 for $900-1000. Regular price on them is about $819.95, however, that's with a dealer who won't budge...I know where you can buy a CS-8000 for $712.95 to your front door, right now. I understand your point though and I refer back to mine regarding the CS-1201. 880 is definitely a beast though!

LOL! I hasn't been 24 hours yet and speculated prices are starting to fly.:D
This whole deal is a long shot anyway. Keep your fingers crossed.
