Echo ES 600 bar and chain question

Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for your time. I recently acquired a 2011 Echo CS-600P chainsaw (I needed new chaps and a helmet and the saw came with them!). My other saws are Stihls (MS271 and MS180). The man who I got the Echo from said it was too much saw for him. I checked all the fluids, etc., and then ran it to try it out- I think it’ll be a nice saw to add to my collection. It looks to be in great condition.
With all of that background comes my questions. Would running the saw with an incorrect bar and chain on it damage the saw? He had a 20’ Oregon Advance Cut 584274 D6 bar on it with a Oregon 72 DL chain. From other posts on here I know this is the wrong bar and DL number. He gave me an Echo bar which looks like the original bar. I think he just may not have had a chain that fit the original bar so he bought a slightly longer bar (even though both bars are 20”, the Oregon is slightly longer than the echo). I found what I think is the correct chain- 72LPX70CQ 20" Saw Chain (there’s on on Amazon for $34).
So I don’t think I can use the Oregon bar on the Echo 600, can I use it on the Stihl MS271? I think I can’t because the mount is wrong.
The guy also gave me an Echo 24” chain that is made for the Echo 600- Is a 24” bar too much for this saw?
Can I use the three 20” 72 DL chains I now have if I buy the correct Stihl 20” bar? Is a 20” bar too much bar for the MS271?

I know this is a lot of questions for my first post. I’m happy to give back to this forum if I have knowledge people could use. Thanks in advance.

The Oregon bar is a K095 mount.
It's for a Husqvarna.
The OEM 20" Echo bar does require a 70 DL chain. It should be available at most Home Depots if you don't have a local saw shop.
A 600 will pull a 24" bar without difficulty.

I don't see what the problems is.....Echo bars are made by Oregon, or at least the one I have on my Echo 670 is. The only difference between the Echo branded bar and the Oregon bar was Echo charges a lot more to have their name on it.....
The saw came with a bar and chain that apparently works fine, but you say it doesn't fit the saw? There is no single "correct" bar for a saw. What you see in the manual or any other guide is merely a reference provided by the manufacturer so you will buy their products. If the mounts are compatible, and the chain is the right length and pitch, it'll work just fine.
Just because its a half inch longer or whatever means nothing. Just check the bar specs to see what the link count is.

So? Like I said, what you read in a book doesn't really mean anything. The bar and chain were mounted on the saw and apparently it worked fine. There isn't much difference between the two bars, they are interchangeable. The only difference is the tensioner holes in the Oregon bar are round, the Echo bar has oblong holes. Not a problem......

Thanks for all the replies. The bar and chain oil was leaking when I picked it up. I put the other bar on (the echo) and haven’t noticed the leak. I wonder if the bar type/holes/something else can effect how the chain is oiled, etc?

K095 mounts are for the smaller Husqy saws. Not sure how it’s bar stud grooves compare to the Husqy D009 mount or the Echo D176. I don’t own any small Husqys. I know the D009 Mount has bigger bar stud grooves by a little bit. Most important thing is make sure pitch of the drive sprocket and bar nose sprocket match and make sure the guage of the chain and bar match. Proper bar fitment ensures optimal oiling and tightening/loosening adjustment range within a drive link count. I’ve never mismatched mounts but that’s just me.

If it’s not vibrating or wobbly I’d say you’re good to go. I’m running a poulan mount bar on my 490 no problem. This page from cannon bar works has most of the mounts and their measurements.

Check the oiler holes. There is no way the slender Powermatch bar can oil with out modifying the bar oil port into the side of the rail or buggering up the oil galley in the case.
I am working on one that had an Oregon bar from a 2159 Jonsered and it has a burned up clutch melted gizzards in the Oil Pump this over heated the motor so I had to clean transfer from the cylinder and polish the piston (It should be replaced) This owner traded me 4 2159s' and a Husky 359 but kept the bars (K095) to use on his echo CS590.
His one year old saw wouldn't be worth fixing if I charge him for any of my time. I never read this in any book - It is sitting on my bench as a lesson to him from the school of hard knocks. "Cuz You say So Does NOT make it so. I will make note to take any of your future intellectual advice with a grin and a grain of salt. Your comments could put a learning saw owner out of a saw.
