I'd assume a Velcro loop would be easier in as much as releasing most zip ties involves releasing the plastic tab with a pointed tool, whereas Velcro can just be pulled apart.

My little 301 often needs the trigger held when starting warm even with the carb tuned a bit. OTOH its such a light saw it easy to do that. I set up a velcro loop on the 590, its quite a bit heaver saw etc- a great idea!

+1 on the velcro strap idea, the saw does flood pretty easily. I did the 1st start and flooded when "drop starting" it, so slid the strap over the throttle and got it going right away. Didn't need the decomp. Then I fooled around a bit on a piece of mulberry. The saw pulls <hard> compared to my old homelite lol. Good chain on it out of the box too, which is nice- my 301 had a pretty awful safety chain on. I lowered the idle a touch and leaned H to the limiter stop. I'll take out the adjust stops and tune further once I have a few tanks through it.

If the velcro strap comes off I'm inclined to cut a length of webbing and sew it into a loop.

Set the zip tie so you can just pull it off the trigger. Quick and still on the handle for next time.

One the 590, if you pull out the choke, then push it back in, the throttle will be locked open with choke off(open). It's the same as holding the trigger. Start it, then blip the throttle to close it.

That's what I always did too, but then I realized that puts the throttle in more of a high-idle position or mid-throttle than a wide-open throttle position. I've not tached it, but I think this is correct (?).

Whatever it is, that position (choke pushed back in) has always cleared a flood, but it takes a few pulls. I'll have to try a strap around the trigger next time I have a problem and see if it clears faster.

Defdice, it sounds like the exact same trouble I had. That bugged me that there was that much dust getting onto the airbox to begin with. I suspected the chain cover was leaking on the topand being so close to the bottom of the opening in the airbox, that that was where the problem was. Echo bought the saw back before I could scope it out further. I stumbled onto another 4910 on fakebook for a reasonable price and bought it. This one does not leak at the top of the chain cover and does not pile dust on top of the filter and plug it tight. A minor muffler mod and removing the carb limiters, this thing is a beast for a 50cc saw. It seemed to pull the 18" bar better than the Stihl 261cm. I just like the feel and the way it cuts better than the 261 and sold it to a friend. Just a couple ergonomic things aboujt the stihl i didn;t like.

Good solve! I do miss the saw. I did remove the muffler internal pipe and put on the shark gill deflector (EchoShindaiwa-A313001460) and she was a beast. I was about to take the listing down (told my wife I tried to sell it, haha), but a buyer caught me on fakebook first. Otherwise, I'd still have her. I did keep the deflector...maybe I will check the fakebook for a 4910

I was thinking about service a bit. I tend to DIY so it isn't much of concern. I got my saw from a local dealer listed on Echo's website, I went there to get it- they had a wall full of Echo string trimmers but only stocked Stihl saws. I tested the salesguy by asking for a timberwolf and he was somewhat lost wrt Echo saws so I had to tell him it was a 590. They didn't have any Echo saws on-hand but obtained it from their supplier when they promised and it was prepped and tested when I got there to pick it up. Would I go to a dealer next time vs getting the saw off amazon? Hard to say... not sure what the value-add is.

I like to support local economy and have on half of my saws.
I've bought 2 saws " Echo and Husqvarna " from Amazon and both were runners and their return policy is hard to beat.
Local dealers are nice to have for warranty but never once have I taken in a saw for warranty.

I generally like the buy local vs big box and amazon.. and its true if I go to the showroom I'm likely to buy other goodies that I forgot I needed until I saw them But as for a warranty.. its a piece of paper. I'm trading time vs money taking the thing there and talking and going around and around. If its driving to a place and talking and waiting vs $150 in parts and an evening in the shop listening to music while I wrench on the machine in question then I know which I'd prefer. I suppose if its a lemon thats different... but once I'm a couple tanks of gas into a saw then its mine and the paperwork doesn't really matter.

As for my guys, I caught a glimpse into their back room area.. looked nice, a take things out of boxes and assemble vibe in there but I didn't get a strong repair tone. I think they make their $ by selling to the pros- just what they need, in and out, no fooling around.

Happily it seems an academic question; everything is working on my 590.. it cuts like a demon compared to the old Homelite, oil pump works, got the air filter o-rings in and some muffler stuff coming from ebay.
