I picked up a pair of Efco chainsaws last weekend. A 152 and a 940LE.
While cleaning up the 152, the fuel tank vent was leaking a lot of gas. Is that to be expected when flipping the saw on its side or upside-down?
In general, are vents supposed to serve two purposes: vacuum relief as fuel is used and blow-off of vapor pressure? Or is a fuel tank intended to hold vapor pressure with the vent solely for relieving vacuum?
The vent is in the tank, not the cap. It's an all-rubber "duckbill" style one-way valve. It's backed up by a coil spring. I'm not sure if the spring is just for retaining the valve, or if it is intended to deflect with sufficient tank pressure as a blow-off feature.
