Hope I'm not being a pest here with all the questions. Though I may sound like a complete newbie, I've been using saws for 18 yrs. It was just that back on the farm, not a lot of thought was put into this stuff. Just start the thing and get some fence posts cut! We'll sharpen that chain next year.

Anyhow, the 260 I have on order comes with a 20" bar. The dealer said I could swap it out if I chose. What advantages if any would I see with an 18" bar (cutting max of 3 cords/yr mostly 14" & less in dia & some carving)? I realize there'll be a weight savings. I also would assume the saw will rev faster and perhaps give the feeling of having more power. These things seems like advantages to me but what disadvantages would there be if any? Will this saws powerband be happier with one or the other length....particularly for what I'll be using it for?

Thank you all.

handling

the shorter bar handles better when cutting wood. I have the 026 and I have a 16'' bar on it and I like it, I also have a 028 with an 18'' on it for back up, but when limbing and wood cutting I like a shorter bar because there is alot of saw movement and the shorter the bar the easier it is to handle the saw
