Hi there, got the Oleo Mac 999 today, as though I needed another saw! It's 100.9 cc. and has a manual auxillary oiler.
I found a Homelite cutoff saw for the Homedelight Man, its a XL98. I found a few other saws as well, like an old Bolens gear drive.

Hi Gypo Logger,That is a nice looking saw!Is Oleo Mac associated with Efco or Olympyk?I have read and heard of Oleo Mac,but have never seen one.Nice BIG air cleaner too. I hope it has a compression release!Lets us know how it runs/cuts.

john,
i do not think that you will be able to bring that saw over the border. there is a weight restriction on the bridges. marty

Hi there, no compression release, drop start works though cause its so heavy maybe 17#. Not sure, but I think Dennis and Ken may be too busy so I may have to send it my my secret saw builder in Nanaimo B.C., anyway Dennis doesnt need any competition in the racing circuit so he would propably just cook it on me being the creep that he is.
Marty, I could bring it across but I may need a "wide load" sign.

Nice Saw John!
What type of bar and chain are you using for this baby?
Also, what type of chain do you have on it?
What is the dealership support like for these saws?
Let us know how it runs when you put it through some wood
Tony

Sharp looking saw. I didn't know the Italians made them that big.

Does HomeDelight take common saws like that XL-98? You can't get 10' out the door without tripping over 'em. I even have one.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but Olympyk, Efco, and Oleo-Mac all are different names for the same saws. Also has something to do with the Euro McCullcochs if I'm not mistaken.

That may be the last of "em, John. I was talking to a guy last friday about Dolmar and Efco; he can't even get the big 999 any more here in the states...won't pass EPA regs, and if the market dies out, Emak won't bother. The Canadian market just isn't big enough.

Maybe Brazil?

Say, anybody ever surf south american Stihl web sites? Stihl is selling antiques there, yet!

hi Tony the 999 sports a 32" hardnose with 404 chipper. Its got a huge Walbro carb. I got the last 6 of them and will part for a paltry 999 U.S. It has the Stihl big mount bar style.
John, I think the Homelight Honcho ( Jonathan Hobbs) eats, thinks and breathes anything Homelight. He is also the man to buy a reliable saw from as I did. I wanted Ken to modify one for me, but I think he is upset with me for getting drunk on his Learjet, however I think I can appease him with one of these 999's. Anyway, I'm gonna mount a 21" bar on one with a Martin chain after Ken works his magic.

Boy, you're right about those old Stihls. Just did a quick servey of some Stihl sites. The old 08S, 051, and 038 are still available in South America. You can't get those in Eastern Europe, but you can still get the 064 over there. Strange stuff. Also funny how the model numbers change depending on where you are.

John,
Isn't that the table Robyn & me used when you went to the Beer Store?
Rotax Rick

I will show you cooked Llamabert....when me and Beer Can Bob get Dunn building saws this week...there will be no competition left out there...never mind yer .999

-fools never rush in....

johnbuoy ...I am going to quit post under that Rotax guys name, but only if Rick quits using the trademarked name....

Your .999 really doesnt stand a chance against my 2149 with Louigi Greffard chain..never mind my Art Martin chain...but then again Rotax has been working on a chain for me today...looks like it could be fast as well.....(in butter)....
