I know they kinda play the axe men up, well alot.

so i was just watching the Extreme logging the ice loggers and was wondering if anyone does it or has done it.
and if it is as rough as they make it out to be. or is that all played up too.

30 below zero? Thats gotta be pretty rough on men & equipment. Add some wind to it, you couldn't stand it for more than a few minutes. I watched it last time - Was nice not to have to listen to all the B.S. and cry-babies from AxMen

Cuttin @ 35 below .

I moved from Southeast up to the Interior of Alaska last year and sold firewood all winter .. The coldest I will work in is 35 below when working alone .... You have to really pace yourself sor at least I do, as, if I gulp too much real cold air I get a type of asma..... Until I get in where it,s real warm . And even then I can feel it in my lungs for the night ... . A very good time ffor heated handle bars ..
.
Never saw the TV show tho .

Ax men has just come on TV here in NZ, what a crack up. :hmm3grin2orange:

Some shocking cuts, crazy hauler drivers, and gung-ho breaker outs (riggin slingers/choker setters you guys call em.)!

Bloody hilarious!!

:ices_rofl:

Ax men was probably on of the worst shows made.
it showed everyone in the world what your not supposed to do during logging and it made them look like a bunch of Fing retards.

I work in -30 and my skidder cab is not heated. It sucks but you got to work to make money. The worst thing you can do is start sweating.

you can sweat all you want. It's when you sweat and then stop working that sucks.

Did a Balsam cutting once, The branches didn't snap off good until
-20 and below. Just don't stop moving.

never watched the show....but -30 is my type of weather to work in. i cut and skid in it all winter love it. i would work in -30 before i would work in +30... the coldest day i worked in was -36...my breath made ice on the mesh screen :jawdrop:

You keep a small fire on the landing with your oil close by so you don't tear up your oiler gears. Once you get used to below zero temps. anything above zero is too warm.
