I have an F350 with a forestry chip box, and a l package tool box. At the present I have an older Morbark 12 inch disk chipper that it pulls without any problems. I am looking a Bandit 250xp at a reasonable price bot it dwarfs my present chipper. Can F350 handle towing this size chipper?

Depends, variables, but I would say go for it. That 12" Morbark tows easily behind a Toyota Tundra. I know.
Jeff :)

Pulling these things is almost never a problem. Stopping them is the problem. I have an altec DC 1217 that weighs 6500lbs. I usually pull it with my bigger chip truck but on occasion with my old chevy C30 dump. Its pulls it just fine but if the chipper didn't have brakes it would be a bit hairy to stop.

Lots of hills here. My usual elevation changes from 505 msl to 2100 msl. That's the reason I'm in the process of buying an f550 diesel in fact. Where are your "retarded" hills?

like a dream , 2 years no issues , but I put brand new brakes on the chipper annually and 2xs for the truck and that's that .. If ya run with ****** brakes you will have an accident

My buddy pulls an 8k pound chipper behind a 350 don't think it has good chipper breaks cause u got pushed bad when u were empty but I have experienced way worse!

So Jeff do u do a daily hitch pin inspection?

LOL, no, I just get pissed when they ask me if I have an extra one,,,,then I let them have it,,gotta be nice tho! But, yes, I will write them up.

Hey Ed, didnt you have a vermeer 1250 before? Do you remember what it weighed?

I have pretty much the same truck though the dump body is a regular steel ten foot chip box. Its a stick shift and I think something would have given out hauling a full load and a bigger chipper. It certainly is slow.

So I ended up getting a smaller chipper as I was looking at towing a 250 but thought it would be to much.
