Fair price for a 372xpg

Hi All,
I came across a 2000 372xpg this afternoon in my local saw shop.
The guy behind the counter ( Owner was at lunch ) said a guy dropped it off,said he didnt need it anymore and was open to an offer.No price was on the saw.
What would a fair price for me and the guy be.Its clean,not as clean as my stuff but clean and supposedly used just for firewood.
Runs and cuts great.
I need it like I need another hole in the head but I really want it.

I would say not seeing it myself probally in the $350-450 range give or take a few $$ They are a great saw though..Good piece to add to what you have already Mike

I bought a 371xp built in 1998 or 1999 for $150 and it was like new......... If it was placed next to a new saw you could not tell the difference....... Wht do you have to loose?????

I didn't get a 372 but I got the Stihl equivilant, an 044 that was used but in great shape, very clean and I only paid $150 for it, so I agree with the other guys, offer him $150 bucks and don't be suprised when he says yes.

next time

The next time some one says only run by a little old lady on Sundays to cut firewood, pull off the side cover and check the drum(spur) for wear. If it needs to be replaced that saw has been run hard so drop the price you are willing to pay. It is also an indication of the level of maintanance the prior owner was giving the saw.

That was the first thing I did.
It definatly wasnt new but wasnt clapped out either.If it was brand new,I would have been a little hesitant.
