i meant to ask...what type of pole saw...like when your in tree...i dont no what you want to call it a prunner saw...hand powered pole saw...

Does this make any sense???

Personally I like a pole saw that cuts, I have enough of the bent blade and dull ones around though.

ok to clearify

here is what i am talking about...here is a picture

i worked for a climber on day on a prun job of a pepper tree...

his pole saw wasnt like this...it was indivaul poles...i think they were each like 6 feet long...the clipped together piece by piece..

i dont meant to be so no descreptive on this...but the pic should help

That looks like a Silky Hayauchi....a fragile tool of poor design. at least the first generation that I had. It is now slightly improved. I now have a 20' ARS, private labeled as Stihl. It is fairly well designed, though a bit heavier than the Silky. Silky's new Hayate is heavier than both, supposedly well designed, but pricey.

I also have and like the Silky Zubat pole saws, that are real light, with but two extensions, and come in 9-13 foot fully extended versions.

I, as most arborists, have always used Jameson pole saws, with the clip together 4, 6, 8, and 10 foot sections. They are cheaper, work well, up to 16 feet long, but aren't as rigid as the aluminum Japanese saws, and are heavier.

I've had ARS, Wolf, Jamieson & Barnel.

My favourite for a long pole saw is the Barnel with the Barnel blade. I have made hooks for the Barnel and the Wolf which I use often--why use a $90 blade as a hook with the chance of getting it caught under something and broken if you can use a hook?

Obviously the fibreglass pole is the only choice around electricity but otherwise the Barnel is terrific for its length adjustment and it stays smooth to operate over the years unlike the Wolf. We use a Barnel or ARS saw blade adapted to the Wolf if we want a saw on the Wolf. I find the Wolf saw pathetic after using the others.

I recently found a blade slightly better than the Barnel sold under the Echo label but I think this is a rare beast.
