I have to disagree every btu per cord chart I have looked at has mulberry about 10th down on the list at around 25.8 MBTU's / cord
Who weighs there wood? I think we all measure our wood by cords, or volume, how much we can fit in our stove.

That's true. But a cord of dry mulberry weighs much less than a cord of dry oak, hickory, or locust. So, measured in BTU/lb, mulberry is unbelievably packed with heat.

Psst..... LOML says she likes to load dry mulberry logs into the stove. They don't weigh as much as oak.

I don't know the lbs/btu but dry seasoned Ash is also very light weight.

(for me not customers) I like unsplit oak or sug maple without bark the best in my furnace. Barkless dogwood unsplit lasts a long time as does hedge/osage too. Elm ain't bad either without bark and unsplit which is common because of DED. White oak is not one of my faves as it doesn't flame very well IMO.

This year we got hit with a hurricane so no time to bust wood. So late in the season we just took in a mass amount of ash as with just a couple of months it is sellable without offending anyone (split for 2 months). Can't imagine running out of ash as was mentioned by Michigan poster above. Could happen here and I would really miss it.

my ? is how do you guys get free wood is it that easy to come by cuz back here you would be expected to pay for it whether you buy it from someone like myself or go and buy permits. that wood above is BEAUTIFUL i have yet to see a cotton wood that pretty.

I get it as part of my tree service. This hackberry was killed by borers(insects). You got some neat old saws Joe. 056, had one, 075, had one, 090 still have one. Is your 090 AV?

no i cant tell it doesnt have any indication it doesnt say have a stihl 090 decal but it is so the heck if i know.yep i love all saws hopefully get more.

I don't take it camping often - which is my main wood burning these days - but it's cedar type wood. Western red cedar, incense cedar, port orford cedar and a bit of Leyland cypress.

I like the way the more knot-free sections split, and how it burns fairly warm.

For kindling, I save scraps of cedar fence boards that I salvage from where I dump limbs and old wood.

They made some 090 Stihls in beginning without any rubber mounts (AV or anti vibration). Not a lot of people have that saw ***** joe either way.

well it has 1 part that is like a pice of rubber between the handle bar and the power head but other than that nothing else.
