I think it's the beetles, considering that there isn't normally a lack of rain here (dreary ol' new york...)

Used to live in a little town called Wyoming near Buffalo/Batavia NY when young. Prettiest country I have seen in my life and I've been around.

Upstate NY is nice in the summer for sure, the winter is ok until it snows in late April and all you can think about is "Is summer ever gonna come?"
I live in the southern Finger Lakes, sort of by Ithaca if you've ever heard of it.

Yeah I have heard of it. I remember the brutal winters too. Usually snow above the door for my birthday as a kid end of Feb. We went out every day anyway and had a great time. No computers back in stone age. ha ha.

Buffalo area is famous for record snowfalls. Around here we don't get a whole lot of snow, normally a foot or two at the most. Sometimes we'll get 3-5 ft of snow, but that's pretty rare. Kids these days don't know how much they're missin' playin' around in the snow.
