What sizes do you guys like, I have always used 8's or 6's, was thinking of getting some 12's this time whenI order, I always used teh Stihl Ones but they can be pricey at dealer figured I can order a bunch online.

WOW a 67 page thread on wedges. I believe I'll just re-read D. Douglas Dent tonight.

Ron

Yup, all those pages, all those posts, and about a third of it was really useful information.

I could have picked a better example.

There were some pretty good logging stories in there though if you want to wade through the whole thing.
We're a lot funnier than Dent but not as well spoken.

Well I may reconsider. Finished the first 72 pages of Dent tonight between posts - a little dry but to the point. Ron

90% of my cutting can be handled with 8" RedHeads. They are light yet sturdy and drive/hold well.

I get into everything with my tree service so I do have a variety of all sizes from 4" to 12", some with steel heads which are too heavy for all day carry, but do drive well.

Diameter of wood will dictate wedge length.

Does color mean something?

It can if you want it to. A faller told me that he uses pink wedges to show his support for breast cancer research.

I like to keep the harmony and balance of the universe intact. I offset pink wedges with an equal number of blue wedges.

See, even foresters (retired) can give you good, useful information and also add posts so maybe this thread will have 67 pages of extremely useful information with each post. :D

Here's a video of a big, PNW wedge being used. You don't have to have one of this type, but it sure is nice.
