Just looking for some pointers on how to deal with a customer who has issues with a neighbor and the only way to complete the job is to go on to the neighbors property? My customer was trying to get me to go on to the property while the neighbor was away on business which I would not do by any means, but in the mean time the project was over half done by the time I was made aware of the conflict, to get the payment for the job do I reduce the price that was bid and not go any farther or expect full payment eventhough the job isnt complete because he did not come forth with the potental problem? I ve since delt with the problem to make both parties happy but it took about two weeks any suggestions for a quicker solution? Its nice to get paid in a timely mannor isnt it!

I would put it on hold. Its also nice to have your sphincter the same tight size as well.

Not worth it, if you have to, walk away.

You could try talking to the next door neighbour and see if you can reach a reasonable compromise. Perhaps offer a free small job for access or load of mulch, this might make a customer out of him later so do your very best and give him no reason to complain.

yeah thats what I did and it landed me a good sized job with the neighbor also, I was just wondering if anybody else had a similar case and thoughts on how they went about it to try to avoid such a lengthy wait for payment since I to have a boss to answer to at the head office! Ya know?

In CA we need written permission to cross/work on neighbors property. Dinner for two, a week end away, and doing a small job for the neighbor have all been used on my tractor jobs. Those three work best when given to the wife.
