hi i was wondering if somebody could tell me if alcohol and nitrous feuls will go bad because i just got a modifed 44stihl built and i wont be running it until next summer and does anybody else have one of these saws if you do what can you run in 3 cuts of 8x8 hot start the guy that built mine said it should cut 3.00to 3.50 consistant does that sound about wright to you guys

hi
first is it nitrous or nitro that you are to run
it should be nitro
that is a liquid as nitrous is a liquid that turns to a gas as in enters the motor
i see you guys like to think nitrous is the way to go but let me tell you that it is very dangerous
you have to rember that it is a gas that is mount behind your carb or right into your crankcase
so when you are done your run you let off your trigger and your motor just keeps on screaming for 3 to 4 seconds
you still have to burn the nitrous that you have in the crankcase
i have used rpm limited devices but it is still scarey when you have a saw that is just screaming for those few seconds before she comes back down
now nitro is great ifyou do want you are suppose to do
has your sparkplug been cut so it does not glow
if you have a stock plug do not even start it with nitro
now ontimes at most shows here it is cold start and my last show my 0 to 5 cu times was 3.12 for 3 cuts in 8 by 8 cold start so ya it should cut 3 seconds for sure

Nitrous DOES NO BURN! Nitrous is a carrier of oxygen, it promotes combustion, it WILL NOT sustain combustion. Many people fall off the razor edge of proper air fuel ratio and lean out their engine to the point of destruction. These people always blame the nitrous and not their lack of tuning ability. The "fastest streetcar" series if full of people who understand nitrous and use it regulary with no problem. Nitro is a liquid fuel which contains its own oxygen, impossible to run rich on nitro. Alcohol is hydroscopic, it absorbs water, if not stored properly it definately becomes undesireable fuel.

ehp,

Would you mind going into a little more detail on cut plugs? What are they and where can they be obtained? I have had problems with run on when running nitro blends.
Thanks,

Chuck

hi
if i knew how to draw i picture to show you i would but not knowing jack sh#t on how to use one of these things
the plug can be any stock plug
marcel always made us believe you had to use one of thic special plugs but like alot of things it was just a money thing
i use CJ7Y plugs mostly not because they are better just i have lots of them
i guess i need to get a camera that i can down load the pictures to show you
it is very easy to do and only takes a minute or so to do
look at your stock plug the fire jumps at the end of it
now see the part that comes down the outsideof the plug and makes a 90 degree turn and goes to the centre of your plug
now the fire comes down normal
you have to cut the outside part at the 90 degree bend
take care and tap what is left towards your centre part
gap at .025
now you should have your fire jumping on the side of your plug not the end
no more end of your plug glowing when using nitro
if i donot make sense tell me and i will try again

fuel

ehp,

im sorry about that it is nitro that imtalking about do you have any trouble with tuning your carb in the cooler temperature my saw has a 3100 tilston and is it a44 that youhave those times you have are impresive im hoping for the same

ehp

ehp im sorry about that i meant nitro and is that a44 you have and do you have any trouble setting your carb in the colder weather my saw has a3100 on it what do you run

hi
ok first most of my saws are for racing only
i went down and counted there is 38 saws there now plus i know there is another 4 coming
when i run nitro in the winter which i hate hard on the saws
you have to put the saws in some kind of heat
i put my saws under the heater in the cab of the truck
the hotter the better
donot bring the saw out until you have to do your run
plus when i mix my fuel the colder it is the more actone i put in
remeber we have to cold start here
and you asked if i had trouble jetting
no i donot have trouble with jetting but you have to do alot of work to your carb if you want to run alcohol /20% nitro
