I have an old fiberglass pole saw. I think it's a Jameson and bought back in the 90's. I use for hunting and home use, but it's too much to handle unless you use gloves. I neglected the polesaw and it has seen many rains, snows and sunshine to the point where the fiberglass is wearing and now there's millions of fiberglass shards that get stuck in your hands.

My question is how do I repair this? I'm thinking of using some sort of clear kote spray. ??

I don't need an expensive re-fiberglassing repair job here, just something to cover the existing fiberglass to prevent those nasty pricks for the corroding fiberglass.

Any ideas, tips or hints I can use to fix this?

Electrical tape wrapped all the way down it? Or spend the 30 bucks it is for a new one.

you can buy some two-part epoxy and brush it on. thats all fiberglass is anyway. the sun is the reason that the fiberglass is deteriorating. it turns the epoxy to powder and leaves the fiber glass mat.

Don't waste your time. The new pole sections are about $25 here in Austin and I can't imagine they are too much more, anywhere else.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'll try the epoxy or polymer ideas. As for buying another 2-part pole saw, the 8ft. section alone for Jameson is closer to $40 and that doesn't include the shipping, plus the 6ft. head section. If I put out money for a new pole saw, it will be for another Silky. I even thought of using duct tape, but thought that was a bit crude. LOL!

Thanks again!

Gel cote.
If you use a 2 part epoxy put some poly over it. It is UV resistant.

The easiest would be electrical/duct tape or bicycle handlebar wrap.
