For "sanity's sake", I leave my shop grinders set at 30 degrees for all chains. I have not found the difference going to 35 degrees to be consequential to normal observation. I believe you would have to have instrumentation or at least very careful stop watch timing to see the difference.

With round files, of course, the file size/depth relationship would be significant, with 60 degrees of top plate being good for all around use. But, I'm sure the racers would have plenty of insight to ofer on this. I'm just speaking of everyday use.
 
Y'all hush up on this sanity stuff. "No, you shut up." "Okay, you ass, shut me up." I file all my chains at 35 degrees, but that's only because my old Oregon, Italian made guide has 30 degrees on on the front and 35 degrees on the ass, and 35 is closer to my age. Is this crazy?
