For the first time I switched over to a three square file and tried my hand at that. I think crofter would be proud. My first attempt at I think I held a little to much angle towards my raker in fact when I first started I kept hitting my rakers. However I quickly regrouped got myself back in line and went to town. I took it out and cut up some old saw logs that were past there prime a little, and let the chips fly. It really cuts I went back in again and hit it one more time made sure everything was all evened up and went back at it. Seems to me like that chain does cut pretty quick and smooth. Now I have got something to keep my intrests peeked for a few more days later Wade

Wade; When a chain is near new cutter length you will be just kissing the rakers and also far side tie strap. I think I have switched to filing from the outside in. Left hand is still a bit awkward. I think when you are trying to be too fussy and go slow it is like trying to ride a bicycle slowly. After the flow and rythm develop, things get smoother. Just wate till that chain gets filed back to the rear rivet and you'll see some more speed.
