My neighbor's raisin hell about my very neat stack of firewood along my/his border line. I live in the county in east tennessee in a subdivision THAT DOES NOT HAVE RESTRICTIONS ON ANYTHING OF MY SORT! But,did find out from the zoning office that his building that is nine inches from my line has to be at least 60". He's still complainin(to everybody) and i think that's slander. But i'm still bein pretty cool about it,he just needs to get a hobby ya know or leave lowes and come do what we all do and he would develop a fast appreciation for what we do,right? Anyone ever ran in to this? Outcome?:censored: :monkey:

firewood

The wood powers my new wood stove as well as for customers too. My home is my place of business and i pay taxes on the home thru my mortgage escrow and ALSO PAY SEPERATE ON THE SAME PROPERTY ADDRESS TO THE COUNTY TO DO BUSINESS ON THIS SITE. The zoning guy tells me this is marketable inventory.

We do the same out of my partner's yard and my yard. He gets complaints all the time and my neighbors could care less.

In my limited experience on this topic, I think that most ordinances are about not feeding the local termites. In Kansas City, we are obliged to have all wood stacked on a metal structure above the ground, although I have never heard of that ordinance being enforced.

I suspect the 60" separation is based on the premise that termited feeding on a woodpile won't hike that far for a meal. Ha !

Perhaps it would be better to make your neighbor happy, if possible. A cranky neighbor is usually much less trouble to make happy than to keep angry neighbors complaing about you to every organization they can find.

as long as you're within the law there really isn't anything the neighbor can do about it.
pdql does have a valid point though - it's better to not have unhappy neighbors. If there is a different place for you to stack the wood that would work just as well for you and appease the neighbor maybe you could start stacking it there. Explain to the neighbor that although you aren't going to move what is already stacked you'll put the new wood somewhere else. Of course if you're within your legal right to have it where it is - you don't have to do anything.

Do you purchase an annual " CITY BUSINESS LICENSE " ? Do you have a " CERTIFICATE OF ZONING COMPLIANCE " , which means the City sends a "CITY MARSHALL" out to inspect your property. He verifies you are in "ZONING COMPLIANCE" ! This has nothing to do with " COUNTY RULES & REGULATIONS". You may be in violation !!!!! We found our operation to meet County Regulations but did not meet City Zoning Regulations. They shut us down THE SAME DAY !!! Good Luck ....:dizzy:

If you have a "HOME OWNERS ASSOCIATION" allow them to come over & inspect your property. If your in full compliance, make them write a letter to your neighbor, informing him of their findings. LOL !!!:sucks:

Yep

wildbio, yes i think it'll just stay right there ya know. I've bent over backwards for 3.5 yrs since i built here and still they are just anal about anything anybody does. You can really be too nice to some people bud. My fiance's grandma's dyin of cancer and i've never heard one neg thing from her but then you got people like that to complain about the small stuff. Just shows how society has gotten. Most have lost their values if they were brought up with any. I think the biggest thing is they see someone half their age with more than they had when they were my age and just get weird about it. That's life i guess, i'll just keep workin hard. That's their personal problem.:chainsawguy:

always

chipmonk, preciate the feed back and yes always been in full compliance. nuf said about it im gettin hot now. Anybody got a silencer for an AR15 LMAO:cheers:

I fought this crap for two years, from renters nonetheless!!!
Complained about where I parked my trailer, complained about my log splitter, and anything else they could whine about.
Some people have nothing better to do. I don't have a solution for you, by the time my deal came to an end, everytime they had a party there was a cruiser parked down the road videoing the whole affair, they set foot on my property they went to jail, yada yada, nasty affair I must say!!!

Yes I do have a slinencer for a M-16 or M-4 works well lisence is a pain. As for your neighbors if their building is in the wrong spot and or does not give the correct easements then call the city and they will be issued a fine and be required to remove that section of the building. I knew a guy once who lived next to his brother and poured is dirveway four inches on his brother's easement and his brother made his cut a jackhammer it up.
