I watch these throughout the year. LOTS of listings on CL right now. Prices are low too. Compared to December when there are very few listings and very high prices.

The one larger operation along the highway gets $300 a cord for birch and sells 30-40 cords a year. He only advertises with a sign in his yard. But now I am seeing oak for $165 a full cord. Most are not advertising seasoned.

Its close to that for tree length here, if you can find it. The firewood prices and availability have been extremely volatile last few years. I hope it smooths out. Everything sold for pulp here.

Prices are low here, too. $150 cord for "almost dry" cypress and pine and $250 for oak at a going-out-of-business sale. Those are low prices and not many listings compared to earlier in the season.

It's often $325 for oak or tan oak (not a true oak) around here.

I did OK this year, I moved a cord of fir for $300 and some 1/3 cord sales of pine for $100. The last oak I sold was $325 and I still consider that the going rate down to $300.

Had a really mild winter here. Lots of firewood available on cl for fairly cheap. Of course you never know what you'll get . I was sold out in November.

Talking to the guy who does my chains, the going rate all winter was 150 for a half cord of birch. Good luck on seasoned. Another guy I went to school with responded to a cl ad for "seasoned" and it was felled earlier that day. From a live tree.

It makes a tree look pretty good at $300, I have to say! Maybe you could thin the tree farm a bit, svk?

I sell spruce at 275$ a cord. Usually sell a bit with a birch order, like 5 cords birch, 1/2 cord spruce.

I doubt a "large operation" only sells 40 cords. Heck I do that in a month and I'm small.

He's large compared to firewood hacks. He's semi retired and does this on the side of his other retirement jobs.

That must make me a boutique wood cutter--small volume & high quality.

40 cords a month is a serious operation, I would say!

Only way to make a living at it is to push product. I could easily sell double that, just only so many hrs in a day. This fall/winter I had a month plus wait list.
