Time for a confession....:buttkick:

The only thing I don't mess with is the carb.. I will play with it till I think it is close then I run by the shop and they get it spot on..

My thinking is I would hate to toast a new top end kit because I ran it lean.. So I leave it to the pros...

I can't hear your saw so I cant really say what I think you need to do....

I'm all right with them once I can get them to run long enough to tell, for me the problem is getting them to that point. I am just going to back them out a little more once I get my daughter down for her nap and try again.

I got it to idle great for a little while. Then it finally stalled out and after about ten pulls and no fire, I decided to put it down for a little bit. I think I am going to double check my impulse line and make sure it has a nice tight fit over the nipples.

Looking good from here, hope that cylinder screw hangs in there for you. If the saw ever starts to race too high at anytime then shut it down quickly, air leaks take out a lot of P&C`s.

I'm hoping it holds too. I was able to get a good torque on it, I could not turn it anymore. I think by the time I put the leak lock to it, it shouldn''t go anywhere. That stuff is as good as locktite, I use it for refrigerant fittings where you are running some pretty high pressures (200-400psi) and some pretty high heat.
Now I have to deal with the stalling after it has been running at WOT for a little bit and the hard starting afterwards.

Looking good. The finished saw looks great.

Did you throw in a carb kit? I may have missed any posts related to it if you did. Hope you get it tunned and running right soon.

It is probably still just a hair off..

Keep trying!!!!!!!!

I have had them start great from cold and run good then not start hot.. It was all in the screws O and bad gas lol...........

Yes, I threw in the carb kit this morning, my first one, not nearly as hard as I made it out to be in my head.
Southbound: You are probably right, I went through the sticky started by edisto and found a great section on carb tuning and that is what got me close, I'll keep at it. In the meantime, I have a brand new imulse line coming for $8.00 total just in case. Be good to have in the shop.

Well I have gotten it to idle for a good long time (over five minutes). I have the high side set so that I am barely four stroking under no load and then it cleans right out in the cut. I have a very smooth transition from idle to WOT, all that I have that is not right at this time is that if I run it at WOT for more than a few seconds or cut three or four cookies (10" hardwood) the saw will stall out going from WOT to idle.

When your engine does that do you have to use the choke to get it to restart? If so then it is fuel starving so more fuel has to be delivered to the engine. If the carb cannot supply the fuel then the supply to the carb comes into question. If that is known to be good then the carb settings or internals are the next step. The adjusting needles should tune in around 1-1/4 turns out if the rest of the carb is clean and the carb kit installed correctly + metering lever height set correctly. What carb are you running ,Zama or Walbro?

I'm running the Zama. I am not quite out that far on the idle, but I am close. I am going to get back on it tonight after dinner. I'll try choking it if it does it again, I did not try that worried about flooding it out.

Any updates???????????????

Wife ended up having us all go up to her parents house after dinner. I did go out and tried a few pulls and it did not turn over. Of course it is very cold here tonight. I just want to get it running right on my own without taking to the local saw shop. If I can do that it will be the first start to fininsh without taking it somewhere to finish I have done. It'll work out.

That's a good attitude, good for you. I too, would want to accomplish it all if I got it this far. You will get it right in the end, just take your time and you will have it running.

Pioneer mentioned fuel delivery and I'm wondering if you threw in a new fuel line. I see you ordered an impulse line.

I replaced the fuel line. I need to double check it though and make sure that I have it seated all the way in, that thing was a rotten mf to try to get in the right way.

I did my first fuel line on my 029S a few months back. I never installed one before so I just dipped the bottom end of it in 2 cycle oil and still a PITA to get it seated. I had a pair of plyers pulling inside of tank and tried twisting it, on the topside, side to side and finally seated.
