A "friend" came over yesterday. I have mentioned this kid on here before, several times. He informed me that he is looking into buying this chipper. The machine is a `97 or `98 Brush Bandit model 150, supposedly it is in good condition. The reason why I mention this is as follows, the hours are supposedly low, and the kid is getting the machine for $1,500. You might ask why is he getting such a good deal? I will tell you why. The machine is stolen.

If he had any balls he'd report it. Hey, wouldn't you want someone to tip the cops off it was YOUR hard-earned machine?

Every now and then someone tries to come to me with hot gear. I run a legitimate business, and I appreciate that others do the same. Some guy worked for that saw (or whatever) and as a brother tree guy, I'll look out for him in that respect, even if he's a competitor.

Butch, I think you hit the nail on the head with the stupid part. I am not going to get involved. I am simply going to allow him to hang himself on this one when he eventually tries to get it registered or insured.

I would stay as far away from that 'friend' as humanly possible.

Then, I would ratt his arse out!

With friends like that...

Thieves SUCK!!!

Eric, if I knew who the equipment was stolen from, or who stole it, or where it was stolen from, or located then I might make a call. However, all I know is that the kid is looking at buying a stolen chipper.

Dude , that's what the cops are good at finding out. Watch out you don't make yourself an accessory after the fact.

So is the dope-smoking climber who falls stoned out of trees or the underwear-burning rich guy?:(

Give that man a cigar. Tell 'em what you know, let them handle the rest. Someday, and believe me it WILL happen, you'll be glad someone else did the same.

Be a man.

Eric, once I know more about what is going on, I will make a call. Mike, its the dope smoking climber. As cheap as the underwear burner may be, he gets his stuff through legitimate sources.

Rich, I found out about the stolen factor because the kid asked me if you have to register a chipper in NY. The way it works in NY is that you don't have to put plates on a chipper. However if you want to go out to CT, which is not uncommon for many companies you need plates as soon as you cross the state line. Not sure about going to Jersey, however I would imagine that they require plates as well.
