When someone shows interest in learning something new in the tree care field or climbing or whatever and asks what would appear to be a 'stupid' question, it would be helpful if you smarter folks did not rip this person a new one. That person will be less likely to ask questions and not get the advice that he needs. Just remember we all started out not knowing anything and had to learn along the way.

Here's some advice, stop posting the exact same shitt in multiple areas of the forum! Probably best to stay over in 101. If you would take the time to read the headings at the top of each forum and do what they say you would likely get some better responses. Until then we'll continue to answer your stupid questions with smart ass remarks.

Even though I haven't been around here too long, I'll side with the "Old Guys" on this one: I'd much rather have someone give me a straight up, no BS answer than get some feel-good, wishy-washy nonsense. If that someone "rips me a new one", as the OP says, for asking a stupid question I'll remember that answer even more and it might just save my life one day!

Besides, in this line of work it helps to have a thick skin, so you might as well get used to it.

Better yet, some questions can be answered by yourself after "a liberal applicaton of brainpower" because "the good lord didn't give you your head to use just for a hat rack" (both quotes from one of my high school teachers).

Just my .02 worth....

To get that level of service yer gonna have to pay, one way or another, believe that.
