Bow bars are for bumping knots on skidded logs. Have ever noticed how you can force a dull chain to cut faster with the nose? The bow is just a great big nose. It should have the spur on the bottom and until you get used to it you should always place the spur against the limb you are trimming. Liability has made them obsolete. I will run one myself, but would never consider having an employ use one.

Bow bars are best suited for cuts in anything that could close the kerf or pinch a solid bar.

The chain and narrow bar-rail pass before most binding wood gets a chance to close behind it. There dangerous as h311, I would never run one without the guards in place.

I imagine Rich my have had that bar lying around and just put it on that 125.I question weather anybody actually ever used it with a bow bar.

Bows, generally speaking, were used for pulp wood/fence post type cutting .

That saw would be better served using the 36" bar which is included with the sale.Hang the bow on a nail and use it for a conversation piece.

that saw king guy always has the coolest saws, and always gets good money for them. I always watch his auctions, and he almost always gets way more than anyone else with a similar item.

$400 doesn't seem out of line for a decent running saw of that caliber, the bow bar in that auction will probably juice it up a bit because of the OOOOHHHH COOOOOL factor.

SawKing always has the killer saws that folks on here talk about. He is on the West Coast, which is where most of the big cool saws dwell. I bet he spends a fair ammount of time beating the brush though to scare up some of the decent old pieces I've seen in his auctions.
