I was thinking what a great mill saw it would be. I asked him what the running condition was and how much compression it had.

Pshaw,they aren't that bad with a 36 ",a 48" is a bit of a chore though.If mine sit for any length of time,I prime them with a squirt bottle.After that first cold start,they usually light off on the first pull.That said it is about a waste of time using them unless the wood is 30" or larger.Just joking actually. But the old SP125's are a bear to run. It is a job to lift mine, much less cut wood with it. Shoot, starting it is work! But I'm sure you are up to the task...where there is a will there is a way.
