I met the old bugger one day on the snake pass outside of glossop ,we were coming back from holmfirth and his old lanndie had broke down so we gave him a tow into glossop .
what a shame i watch all his telly programmes

yep butch he was a steeple jack,carpenter ,steam traction engine and steam beam engine restorer,he lived for old steam engines and the like and had a pit (mine ) head in his back garden that he built himself ,he came from bolton in manchester (13 miles away from me )and was probably one of the best working class northeners on telly
