Y'all might be scratching your heads and snickering, but if those leaves are clean of trash, I'd take 'em.

Ya mix in some good quality Horse poop, and compost them for a year or two, and BINGO! High PH organic matter with a good nitrogen content, to till into the sand that passes for soil around here. Moisture retention and nitrogen leeching problems cost $$$ to overcome and free leaves and Horse poop ain't a bad deal...as long as the stuff is devoid of plastic bottles, plastic wrap and other trash.

Already bagged up saves lotsa work and time.:D

Well come on down to KC! Be sure to bring a BIG truck. You could even get paid for your trouble, if you brought a big enough truck.

Those Craig's List postings are particularly dumb in Kansas City, because sometime in the next few weeks everybody in town puts their leaves in bags out by the curb for free pickup by the City. Many hundreds of trash compactor truckloads are picked up each year.

I know, I had a couple of the contracts one year.

a friend of mine gets a load or two from me every year and puts them in his garden and makes compost for other uses...

LOL!!
I'd love to. Fuel costs would be silly though, and despite getting a chance to buy ya a beer bieng a better reason to head that way, I'll have to pass this time around.
Junk Haybales are more dense in organic compound and I can get 'em free this year.

Our local towns use those vac trucks, and they pick up every pop bottle and trash bag, as well as the leaves that some doofus parked his Leaky truck over. I always wonder what kind of "Organic Mulch" all that stuff goes into LOL!!

Our local towns use those vac trucks,

Worcester, where I've worked for years and have a sister in, has a leaf pickup.

Silly me always assumed it was vac trucks, until I saw them in action one day -- it's front end loaders, rakes, and dump trucks.

I also don't think I've ever seen them finish before the snow falls, which makes a lovely mess of piles of leaves and branches covered by plowed snow. "Oh my, we never thought it would snow in December in New England when we made out the schedule..."

Maybe 30 years ago they had enough men and payloaders to do it this way, they sure need either vacuums or make people use bags today.

One time I missed the pick up deadline and had six bags of leaves. I put them on freecycle (similar to craigs list). In two hours, someone came and got them for their compost pile.
