Got a free oak from the ice storm last spring,,,the dude that started cutting it got paid and left the country,so I cut it on down..A friend I work with asked me about this cherry tree he had in his yard, he was wanting to cut down,,but someone was wanting to charge him to cut it...I said I'd do it for the log..I wont cut one down around a home or power lines,,but anyone else have that kinda score??
I have 2 walnuts to look at where this man wants 700.00 a peice to cut em down,,but I said I'll do em for free for the logs.....

Stipes, I'm jealous.

One time a neighbor had a dead ponderosa leaning toward his cabin. Neighbor is a city feller so he wasn't confident to saw the tree himself. Another neighbor and I did the deed. It was 2nd rate firewood but we got to show off our felling skills.:)

id quote himm a mite less on dropping those walnuts--as people are inherently cheap--when they can get it done for less--:dizzy::dizzy: have your cake, and eat it too

I should have worded it better...

This man quoted him to do each tree for 700.00 each....I'd cut em down for free for the logs....

wow really nice figure on that Oak, What kind of oak is it ? I hope mine cherry comes out as well. Think ill go out and turn some chunks this afternoon.

I'm retired from residential tree care. I would never work for free, it rubs me the wrong way. A caveat, I work for friends and family, free, all the time. If I knew he had a price of $1400 to remove both trees I would have said "I'll take the trees down and haul away (mill on site) the logs, and home owner cleans up the rest, for the price of one tree." you get $700 for your hard work, or even take $500. The home owner still gets a good deal and you don't do all that hard, dangerous work for free. I'm the same way with fire wood. It's just too much hard work for free, joe.
