Ryan,

Somedays I just did not feel like jumping out of airplanes with the potential of making a fool of myself and the Army in front of large crowds of people.........chalk it up to an off day.

However, it was my job for a year, and I was provided the very best of equipment and support and prior training. Nerves are a healthy thing wrt height, and I got over the minuses by focussing on the positive. The sense of accomplishment at the end....

I find being a hockey goalie is similar-some days I just do not like the thought of people firing pucks at me at 100 mph, but again focus on my technique, my equipment and past experience to avoid the nagatives,

Climbing and working as an arborist is not unlike an athelete, and most pros would be the first to suggest they have "off" days. not suggesting you run out to a sports physchologist but there is some good reading out there.

woodchux and JohnDee had the best observations.

I also think the size and spread of old trees can really humble a guy.

Yeah with my space age eqpt and youthful speed, I can be pretty intimidating. :givebeer:

Fun working with you anyway. we can finish the second and third ones together once you build up some air time.

"he looks more comfortable in a tree than he does on the ground..."

Yeah I feel that way too, always have. maybe that's because being in big trees is like being in church, closer to the Creator. I get close to freezing up when I gotta cut one down. Like you said, (about 30 times  ), it's a mental thing. The best thing to do is tell that part of the mind to shut up Put it on ignore, like other pests.
